What if you randomize the lines of dialog the dogs say when they come out. They could say "bark" or "woof" and you wouldn't know which to expect. There could be immersive gameplay when the enemies start talking to each other.
@humanoidtomutant That's the beauty of it! No one can say what'll happen! Maybe an enemy will come through the FIRST window, or the FIFTH window, or ALL WINDOWS SIMULTANEOUSLY, or the FLOOR, or maybe one will MATERIALIZE INSIDE YOUR CHARACTER, killing you instantly. You just don't know!
@petermolydeux Although nothing would make me happier, I'm just iterating upon the ideas you've already mentioned. Humanoidtomutant is the other major visionary here.
@humanoidtomutant A house made of zombie dogs, in which you fight monsters made of brick and paneling? Forget everything you thought you knew about survival horror. This could change everything.
@MagFlare I hope Codemasters get to work on it, it'll be amazing. Until they patch it, then it'll be unplayably broken. And they won't bother fixing it. They're truly the masters of Random Patch Time Mechanics.
I actually had an idea like this back in high school-and actually the dogs from Resident Evil were the exact example I was thinking about. I think the idea was sort of inspired by the Gamecube remake of Resident Evil and how it changed everything around and what if you could do that in just one game? guess it's just been floating out there in the collective unconscious since then. ;p
Anyway, another thing that could change would be whether the dog jumps out in front of you or behind.
Whoa, whoa, you're saying games should have a... how did you put it... "random" factor? No, no, that's not how games work. That's beyond revolutionary - that's like assassinating an archduke. You should make a sports game instead. THAT is what real gaming is.
It wasn't racist the first time, but now...because you have responded to complaints of racism that didn't exist by changing the cubes...it is now racist. And yes, racist against white people. So, in the spirit of equality, I hope you respond by changing the cubes back to the way they were when no racism was intended. THE END...
Great. How typical. The white cubes are obviously part of the KKK. How racist.

I saw a game use something similar to RETM once. Dougie should sue.

On the 5th playthrough you control the hideous dog which only really wants some pats on the head and a treat from the human roaming the house.

Mr. Molydeux, you do know randomization has been done in other horror games before, right?

Such is the brilliance of RETM.

@MagFlare What if there are no windows at all, just four walls of solid dogs? Can that be the 5th playthrough?

Now there's one thing this lacks; What if no dogs came?

@jako3047 I guess you commented before watching the video all the way through, but he shows that scenario in the '3rd playthrough'. 3:23
