can you do a video of Fair isle knitting? What is the difference between knitting in the round or straight, and how do you read the graphs when they don't have any #'s Thank you so much
@LatingGirl Oh these are excellent video ideas. I'll add them to my list right now.
When you read charts, you usually are reading them from the bottom up. On the Right side of knitting, you read the chart from right to left (i.e. in the direction you are knitting.) For Wrong side rows (in flat knitting) you follow the charts from left to right. I am a bad at putting numbers in rows on the charts, so sometimes you have to use your best judgement.
THank you i get it...oh i so appreciate you emailing me..my star was 42 rows and i cast on 32 stitches..so i will try to keep all patterns within this range.
@carolynecharlane sorry meant to say i will keep all charts and squares i knit within this range..thank you also for answering my question on how to make the same pattern design smaller or bigger..it really is as simple as smaller needles and thinner yarn verse bigger yarn and needles..oh your a doll.
@ChemKnitsBlog :D thank you are the best :D i have just started making a new video i wanna pitch to you that will be on the blog soon but i use your advice....used an a borrowed guage lol...(but still need to a gauge ruler) on revised chart made AFTER looking for the final size and guage :D but again thank you are extremely good at the craft....I throw glitter for luck on the new IPAD project cuz that would come in handy for me too for my mommy ipad please post soon :D
I needed this information like right now. I am in the process of charting and sizing a double knit scarf with text on it. I want to make sure the text fits within the width of the scarf. So you have confirm downsizing the needles and threads is indeed the solution. Your example showed same stitches different width while I want to do the same width different stitches. It's the same concept just the variable has changed. Anyway...

@sweetpooh06 The apple scarf looks fantastic, and your explanation of the design was great, too. I'm really glad that I was able to help.
