"send a salami to your boy in the army" ..I always remembered those signs from the old days . i didn't see any of the old regulars like "east houston moe" or " jimmy loan me a buck " not even " frankie fingers"
Best Jew Deli in the world. Boy I miss their pastrami sandwiches and the hot dogs with kraut. I live in Florida now and have to settle for second best.
Pastrami on rye or a beef brisquet on club, from Katz's with a hand full of half sour pickles! Just can't find anything like it in south Florida. Toojay's is close.. but no cigar!
Kaplan's deli in Vancouver used to have bagels that were filled with something called baker's cheese. They were slightly sweet and the pastry somewhat flaky. They were unbelievably good but I can no longer find them anywhere including Kaplan's.
I've lived down here in Florida for over 30 yrs, I would give anything for a REAL pastrami on rye, like that old guy was eating, it made me so hungry!! I miss NY so bad!!
God, I am missing Katz's right now! I want my last meal on earth to be one of their pastrami sandwiches. I am no longer in the NYC area, please someone update here... I read that they may sell the land and close the place. What's the latest news?
The US does get SOME things right. if they stopped being war mongers and concentrated on their amazing meat/ delis around the world instead of instigating fake wars it'd be a better place BUT then again the only reason US is so affluent and able to produce such meat is because of land and the disgusting acts they committed in the past and present to ensure financial prowess; slavery and wars for oil. But hell, I don't mind all that as long as I can get me a damn good Pastrami on rye! Yum!
@ddregon Such an awesome video. lol that rant about America... I'm a little less liberal now, but I think I was making a point there ha. I want a sandwich now!
I think Gershwin would be pleased with the rendition. I'm amazed the old guy in the gingham shirt and hat didn't shoot you in the face! I like the look of this and good for you for doing for the love of...
WOW! Rhapsody in blue played to a harmonica? IT SUPPOSED TO BE TO A FUCKING CLARONET! Thats just kills the whole song. Gershwin would shoot somebody in the face.
my grandfather has been going to katzs deli since 1943

true and the workers are embarrassed to do it because if they don't they get fired, which makes for unhappy customers.

Hey man. Maybe a weird question. I'm doing research for a screenplay I'm writing.
- Does a regular local delicatessen is the U.S. also sell liquor, like wine.
Hope you can help me out.

I took my wife and kids to Katz's. For me it was a nostalgia trip. My wife and kids prefer
the deli in Long Island. I would never associate Katz's with Gershwin, unless you want to give it a Woody Allen touch. I would
associate it more with yidish songs and the
Barry sisters.

There are so, so, so many things wrong with your idiotic comment, I wouldn't even know where to begin.
So on that note, I'll just call you an arrogant D-I-P-S-H-I-T.

Gershwin would shoot somebody in the face. Actually Gershwin loved this performance, it's Larry Adler, a friend of the Gershwins.
