  • Thanks for posting. I'm a Bama grad rom the mid 70s and former MDB band member. We would see Coach Byrant standing under the goal post when we would line up for the pregame show. Even we band members were afraid of him. But more than than, we respected him and loved him. And still do. What I didnt like about this film was how they portrayed him as a mean old bastard. Only the players know him, but still, it was an unfair incomplete picture of a great man. Ed UA '76 MDB ROLL TIDE

  • @edko426 They portrayed him as a mean old bastard, because he was. Bear wanted to win, which there's nothing wrong with that, but that's what he did. No matter the cost.

    In this film it is historically accurate to call him a mean bastard. Even he admits that later in the film. He thought those guys were going to hate him.
