The caravan in the video is very similar to the Mini-Motel but there are a few differences which makes us believe it's not. It did have a sister caravan called the Sussex Twosome, but again, it's not that one either from what we can tell. The Mini-Motel was priced at £268 and the Twosome £288, 15 shillings. The Twosome was new in 1960 but the Mini-Motel was slightly older having been around since 1959 at least. For more information take a look at portafold.co.uk
Absolutely marvellous old chap, And while you are tucked up all cosy with your cup of Cocoa listening to Cheeky chappy hour on the wireless, the local young ruffians can unhitch your caravan and roll you in the sea, before you can say jack Robinson...Oh dear
bet you could pull that with a bicycle trike recumbent. prob build one to be lighter. thin ill try to build me one for vacations here but use a bicycle recumbent to pull it. make sure it says bicycle on the back for cars to see and reflectors etc. i can already hear people honking horns because so slow. morons.
Simply amazing, it would never be allowed in Italy in the '60s (though this video might be dated late '50s), also because our families were bigger (4 or more kids)...
I actually think this is great for sixties motoring where everybody was curteous more so than now. Where speeds were not breakkneck it was only when the fast jap bikes came in and every one started having accidents that helmets of the cork type had to be worn. I would love to drag one of these boxes around now just to piss off the plastic car brigade
did he say you wont wear out valuable shoe leather from walking to the hostel ? better than being molested and murdered by the snaggles toothed ex convicts that usually reside in such seaside toilets. quaint tho.
please get me one of these after spendin 20 years going to rallies on me lammy and sleeping in a tent in a force 9 gale an torrencial rain me old bones need one of these
Did not have to wear a helmet until 1973. I remember my father having a leather helmet as they were all you could get. Chances are no one made child helmets then. Eee by gum, the good old days.
i like how the parents are wearing helmets and the kid isn't.

'even a moron can fix it up in a matter of minutes'. That's a stroke of luck for those two.

@grumlygrimly And they're definitely morons, since they've set up their caravan below the high tide line! "It will make a fine houseboat too!"

Apparantly in the sixties, childrens heads we're made from rubber, so safety helmets we're deemed unnessacary.
