Hey, Tom!

I am a LOST supernerd. I hated The Event. For all the reasons you stated. To me, it followed on the heels of LOST too much. It was almost like, "Hey! We know you miss LOST! Why don't you watch our show!" They tried to use the fact that LOST was over as a selling point. The show was terrible!

I agree with most of what you said, but I think NBC has had good dramas like Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, and Southland (thought Southland is now on TNT)

I honestly gotta say that after the first episode of The Event I stopped because on the family that got robbed,the guy who looses his room,and the plane vanishings I thought it was too much I was just going to focus on the action,but it then depended that it was just enough I'm like " what the hell whats going on???'' but its still a good show and i like it alittle bit i gotta say a show called " The Chatalbashing Event '' now that would be a decent show

this review is a bit unfair, think about the first season of lost it did not have alot of "what the hell moments" as for example in season4and5.I'm not saying that season one had no "what the hell" moments but not too many of them to make have no idea whats going on.Also the event needs people to understand whats going on for right now, because all new shows need to build an audience.That why flashforward failed they confused the audience toearly and no one cared about the show.i like the review

lost tried to hard be mysterious. How can you say it is a mystery show when they didn't explain half of the mysteries. I haven't seen the show, but lost fucked up at the beginning of the third season, because people got to interested in the theories and forgot about the characters and the writers noticed what people liked and they made it some mind fuck show and couldn't explain half the shit with out some cop out BULL SHIT answer. I loved the last episode of lost because it was the characters!

The Event is to Lost what the Prequels are to the Original Trilogy...one has an amazing mix of likable characters who use drama, comedy and emotion to relate to the viewer while telling a grand story that while ridiculous, is believable because of the effort put into it....the other is a humorless, colorless cash grab emulation that fails to hit any key point because it tries too hard at too many things that just...don't...matter. You're totally right Tom!

I haven't seen a single episode of Lost. I guess I could say that I've been living in a desolate cave in the desert without a TV for the past ten years, but I'm not sure even that would be considered to be a valid excuse for not watching this show. IFrom what I've heard it just seems kind of weird (they're on a island, trying to get away, they don't leave the island, there's a smoke monster?...) but I'm still curious. Can you give me a reason why I should give Lost a chance?

Although I was never a big fan of Lost, I have to agree that The Event is a pale imitation. Their only hope is to drop the attempt at being an ongoing mystery and switch to more action/adventure.

If you're a fan of comedies you should look into 'Raising Hope' on Fox. The premiere episode was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV and Cloris Leechman is still one of the best comedians ever.

agreed 'Lost' is one of kind & i'll be years till we see a show as good if ever,but the closest thing right now that is smart and mysterious is The Event..and yeaa i kinda like it.. its the best show right now you gotta admit:).. they should have taken JJ Abrams to do this show instead of doing that boring piss of shit 'Undercovers' show

Chatal: I agree with you 100% on this show. No likable characters, no humor or even joy, Those BIZZARE inconsistant time jump flashbacks, I don't know what the "event" is yet, and I just don't care. They answer too much too soon, And leave nothing to the imagination. I stopped watching after episode 3 or 4. That's officially 3-4 hours they had to convince me to stick around. They failed. Journeyman and Flashforward were cancelled and much better stories.
