Damn it. I wish I knew Italian. I understand some Italian, knowing Castellano (Spanish) another Latin based language, but I am unfamiliar with his dialect (Calabrian)
hahahaha. sounds exactly like my dad. does anyone know what town/village joe avatis parents come from? his dialect is from the province of reggio which is where im from
@LeoRafDonnyMikey So basically he's saying that his Nonno calls him up all excited and asks:
"Did you see the news?" Joe say no he didn't, and asked what happened. Nonno says "They caught that one!" He asked who they caught and he tells him "The one with the long beard." Joe is confused and asks if he's talking about Osama Bin Laden. Nonno says, "No not him, the other one, Saddam Hussein. My goodness, when they found him he was down in a hole like a rabbit." (TBC - see next post)
@LeoRafDonnyMikey (Continued from last post) "He came out looking all confused, like he was lost and didn't know anything. I don't understand why, when they found him, they didn't throw a bunch of explosives on the ground on top of him!" Nonno then tells Joe that he thinks Saddam must be Italian. Joe asked why and Nonno replies, "Because when they found him, he had all his cash hidden under the mattress."
So that wasn't a perfect translation, but you get the gist.
u cant be austrailian calabrese ma che cazzi deici stu cazzi munjicakes listen buddi idk wat ur tlkin bout he was born in austrailia but hes italian n from povince di calabria which in a province in italia not austrailia dont make a bigger fool of urself
He's from Calabria, His dialect is from Reggio Calabria, the most southern point of Italy before sicily, its also closest to Sicily thats y it sounds like sicilian
if anyone wants to now im going to upload a vid just his voice from his cds: "jope avati live and unluggato (unpluged)" and "Joe Avati livin' la dolce vita (living the sweet life)". and his porfprmence : joe avati back home and live" if i can figuer out how to post it as a vid
Bazyan1, he sais he's italian because he stashed cash under the mattress. Italian = "materasso", but he sais "matarazzu" as Calabrian-Sicilian. I'm quite sure he's calabrian.
It's not enough to be italian, you should be sicilian or calabrian because it's dialect (Extreme meridional Italian).
im calabrese and i got to have a take with him after i saw his live proformence in montreal. yes he is calabrese. i have this dvd, i have it autograpghed by him, how did u put it on a vid?
i have seen him twice in melbourne he was so funny but the thing is that he never changes his material. maybe becuase all nonnas and nonnos are all the same
