If you have a gym bike or trainer, you can use a metronome and gear/resistance level to modulate the effort.
If you have a trainer like the kurt kinetic, it comes with a rough graph of power vs speed although this may depend on the tightness of your back tyre on the roller somewhat.

Excellent points Robbie. One other point, make sure you have your training area accessible and there will never be an excuse to miss a ride.

Thanks Robbie. Agree about two hours and 3-4days a week. What type of rides should I focus on. Threshold? AC? V02 power?
