Also your complaining about the driver sounding his horn by the crossing.
If you knew anything about trains you'd know that trains can often approach without warning, The audiable signal is the driver making road users and pedestrians aware of the trains presence. If you were a network rail worker, you'd be very grateful if a driver gave u a warning. I certainly wouldnt stand a chance against a 70 tonne goliath like that!
i manage to sleep just fine, and i have 4 line outside my window. Coal trains and passenger trains pass my window every 15 to 20 mins and don't bother me at all.
u were over reacting when the train passed, no way is it that loud, I'm a train enthusiast, and I can hear and talk perfect when trains pass me going faster than that. U ought to be glad the coal isnt getting moved by road, other waise u'd get about 2000 extra lorries on the road in your area, there are only 20 coal trains. And that driver blew the horn cos he was warning u he was comming, I'd do the same thing.
May I repeat myself, only the night running is complained about. You are missing the point! They are an asset to the County - but folk need their rest. I don't personally drink coffee at night - do you? I usually lie in my bed half a sleep, waiting for the next rumbling scraping squealing thundering rattling monster pounding through the night 20 feet from my bed! I am fighting for a night's well earned rest. I have worked hard all my life,it is my right!
stop whinging like a poof, I used to live 20 yards from the ECML and it even used to shake my coffee cup, after a while trains passing can be quite relaxing
90 tonnes coal per wagon. Dust coming out, worse in the summer. 126 tonne locomotive at each end, blasting engines to shift the weight pass at over 40MPH+, 2 high pitched squeals from each of wagon, 64 squeals per trip, 1536 squeals per day, over half a million squeals a year. 1610 tonnes of coal per trip, reaching 60MPH in places.
Coal train passes 24 times throughout the day. Night trains frequency is to increase - not disputed by NETWORK RAIL at the public meeting.
Did not hear u lot moaning when the trains where coming from the other end ppl in fife had to put up with it for years so if u dont like it move house
Forgive my ignornance, but did they run through the night in Fife? Please reply as your comment will be forwarded to Richard Simpson MSP as comparative evidence.
I appreciate your anger mate, but honestly... if you don't like it... don't live there!! The railway line will have been there for quite some time... much longer than those houses I'm sure... How else are we supposed to transport things around the country if the "not in my backyard" bregade kick off every two minutes?!
Benn 1988.....Thanks for your comment mate, but residents realise that!
And here's the homework.... Residents bought houses when there were no plans to reopen the line. Some houses WERE there before the line. When the line was proposed to be reopened, the residents thought excellent, more cars off the road, more lorries and freight off the road, and to boot
no mention of trains running at night.....a win win for everyone. But NOBODY mentioned the CONFIDENCE TRICK, and that through the back door, later in the process, that trains would eventually run through the night.........although CLACKS COUNCIL AND TRANSPORT SCOTLAND DID KNOW TRAINS COULD EVENTUALLY RUN THROUGH THE NIGHT, but nobody told the residents and the first many knew of this was when they could not sleep one night, or since!
(cont 2)..The facts are clear..... trains did NOT run through the night on the old route in Fife, and as stated above there were no plans to run the trains through the night on the new route.
So the answer is NOT to move house, no take note, it is to stand up for ones rights.........and not to move house and give someone else the problem. This is likely to go through the courts and Parliament, as the promoting group are trying to hide behind their appalling decision making.
You didn't answer his primary question - "How else are we supposed to transport things around the country if the "not in my backyard" brigade kick off every two minutes?"

Fair enough that is quite a racket. But did the estate agent not tell you that there was a "RAILWAY" right next to your house when your brought it?
Would you prefer that or have 30-40 HGVs driving through yours or someone elses area?
I know many people who live near railways, they and I quote 'get accustomed to the sound after a while'.

None of us object to the trains AT ALL, except for the night running. They are an asset to the County - but folk need their rest.

I feel sorry for those people too mate
Try asking the councillors about Common Purpose - they are behind a lot of bad decisions being made in society.
Good luck with the campaign!
