For me this song is all about the summer of 82' when I was placed in a group home, yeah, I was a screwed up 8 year old;My room mate was 11 and his parents bought him everything under the sun including a ghetto and this tape. God, even being ripped from my family at age 8, I just loved all of this music and it made the time go by so fast! Hell of a memeory to have but almost 38 now, it still resonates with me from radio station selection, kids hate it lol, to what I watch on Y.T! Go 80's forever!
I remember a high school phys-ed class where we were allowed a turntable into the gym to play some songs while we shot free throws and did lay-ups at the basketball hoops. I swear, this song increased our shot success rate. :)
Why are the like and dislike buttons disabled? Loverboy was under-rated b/c of the name of there band. No guy wants to admit he liked a band called, Loverboy when he is 13 -22 years old. You can see them play live for free on Freemont Street Experience in Las Vegas. Seen them twice. Mike Reno does not sound like he used to but the music is the same.
I remember this song coming out in 82. I could be wrong--may have been late 81. Either way--it's one of the great ones. I was 19 when it came out--good times!
A couple packed bowls, a couple beers, the high school dance, Visine before going home, pretty much sums up nearly every weekend for me in high school, 1982 grad. Rock on.
the 80s will always be the best life a girl good ever have had....the happiest years of my life and the world wasnt as crazy as what it is now....i will always love you
Saw them at Rama last weekend. Never a fan in the 80's, but going in a group made it fun. Never saw so many 44 year old women standing and dancing, reliving their teenage years. Mike Reno still in good voice, the band was rock solid.
There might be some connections to this song and The cars as Ric is attributed by Wikipedia as starting a new wave in the late 70's. Both singers are only 5 years apart in age with Ric being older @ 60 Reno has aged much better than Ric who looks like he has been dead a couple hundred years while Mike put on a few #'s. I guess that is where they both will be tomarrow. Loverboy is still rocking & The Cars are no more.
they were pretty cool, Aids was largely restricted to Africa and the gay population, no PC's and cell phones to keep us indoors too much. Not as many sexual predators. Good times.
I went through a Loverboy period then, but honestly, there were sooooo many more interesting bands in the 80's like the Cocteau Twins, Echo and the Bunnymen, and the Psychedelic Furs.
friday night cruising tune.makes me want to take the old six pak superbee out for a spin down gastown/robson/stanley park cruise.time for a beer eh ..thanks for sharing.
you do that now a dui is almost guarenteed. not condoning drinking and drivin but back in the 70's and 80's thats what you did. in mobile al where i grew up we'd cruise from burger king to mcdonalds 3miles down the road, up and down that road, good music, beer and some buddies, and the cops were far less in number and drinking and cruising were tolerated more than today, great times!!!!
I did not realize that Loverboy also dealt with rejection. They sure did have a good kick at the can in their heyday. Lucky you having another promotional gem in your collection...(how do you keep track of them all anyways).
These guys got to experience the whole enchilada. It must have been a great thrill while it was happening. They're all still performing, except for Scott Smith, who was declared deceased after being lost at sea, on November 30, 2000. His place has been taken by Ken Sinnaeve. Ken had played in Streetheart with Paul Dean and Matt Frenette.
How do I keep track? Database. Large, perpetually unfinished database.

This is the first I've ever heard of it. Remember, urban legends usually turn out to be urban legends.
