Reference point. Usually by powerlifters, the geared sort, in order to get a feel for how low they need to go to get the lift passed by the judges. It's also a great way to squat with less stress on the knees.
hey i have a question does anyone know what the propper amout of weight that is needed to build straight for sports im a fighter and i basicaly train myself i do squats to gain tuffness i normaly work 135 for 15 or 20 225 10 315 10 405 10 then back to 315 for sets of 10 tell i get to 100 this seems to work my cardio well but i want to gain a bigger squat with out gassing after one movement like ive seen form the big dudes at the gym let me know
Excellent form, dude. Normally I would suggest to try point your elbows forward instead of backwards as it makes sitting back easier but you have that nailed.
man that is really good form! I too have squat issues. I was able to get to 440 squat narrow stance after 1 year training, and now I am stuck. I am now squatting wider and working my way back up. Great vid!
needtolose... dont be a prick. its his style and the way he sets himself before he lifts the weight off the rack. it may not be necessary to you but its ritual for him. just like some people sway back and forth while cleaning, its what they do.
thats just a squat on a box not a box squat sit back.....your moving in the right direction just perfect it Out!!!!!

I find most people don't go too low with box squat - is there a reason. Any safety concerns with box squat ?

Im curious, is the box just used like a reference point or possibly safety?

It's definitely NOT for safety.

Yeah your training is more endurance based. I suggest training like powerlifters, using a heavier weight for 2-5 reps for about 8 sets.

What are box squats good for and where can I get that type of box???
James6630 4 years ago
build one and they are to help you in parallel squats to try and not get stuck half way up.
