Other than Chen's view, the one thing that FPS doesn't have over Fighting Games is a completely diverse community that can get together. With EVO 2K11 having an a record 2 mil. viewers over the weekend, it will keep growing and growing and next year is no exception.

I'm actually glad that they got a Japanese player talking about this and happy to know that he appreciate the excitement from the majority U.S. crowd instead of seeing it as obnoxious. I have seen archived stream footage from the GodGarden stream during the AE Grand Finals and its a little too tame for my taste for a tournament that has so much at stake. Its good to be tame and humble, but you have to let lose at some moments.

It can be similar to how fans of other pro sports show their support to their teams, but here it's not limited to a team, character or previous history... you give credit where credit is due.

@Arisatokun no truer words spoken ive been to and attended only not played in other tournaments for different games, such as CS 1.6 and source, SC, SC2, dreamhack, ESL, MLG. but the american fighting game scene is definitely the one that has the most camaraderie and excitement. it welcomes new players and keeps growing because of it. in my truly honest opinion the fighting game scene is the best not just because of hype but because it is the fighting game scene
