Along with term limits, which I feel the Founders should have included, limiting the money available to the government (at all levels) is about the only practical way to choke off endless spending. And it's not just the money, it's the government bureaucracy the money buys that is, in many ways, destroying the American character and culture. This amendment is a good start.
An amendment should be on one issue and be as brief as possible, both to maintain the style and to increase the chance of approval.
So we must prioritize, and I believe that a ceiling on government income is the highest priority. Money is to government what air is to human life, so the party that controls the ability of the government to get money has ultimate control because they can strangle the government. In the 1600s, the House of Commons wrested this power from the king for this reason.
BARNEY FRANK, lol. I agree with a ceiling on government income but I think we need to repeal the 16th amendment first. I would certainly support the grass roots movement if I agree with the words of the amendment though.
