  • I have this car on Gran Turismo 5. It grips beautifully, but not as well as the X010 prototype made by Polyphony and Red Bull. Glad I got to see a real video of it. I heard they banned it from F1 because of the fans and suction.

  • I heard that the car would stick to a cieling even when it was stationary because the suction was so high.

  • So is it like a hovercraft in reverse?

  • where is it??

  • to is plane

  • What if you needed to replace the rear tires? :\

  • What is that? A washing machine?

  • @Tomasch

Yep, a very fast washing machine :)

  • So the skirts made contact with the ground, wouldn't that damage them?

  • imagine if they had a v8 engine not only for the wheels but another one for the fans, that would sound sooo amazing! :D

  • I find it amusing that the snowmobile engines are louder than that brutal ass V8.

  • the fastest tissue box in the world!

  • ugh ugly car plus ugly sound equals ugly fail

  • @redgateproductions All of that is true but you aren't a car. But the ugly fail and ugly sound are both correct.

  • its so ugly

  • a big cheese :p

  • Is like a hack in motoracing.

    Now is ban :(

  • this car hacks

  • haha! gotta love that car! :)

  • so what series is this alowed to run in i know classic now,but was this ever legal to fia rules? truly a mechanical spectical go 1970s ingenuity !

  • lol a box with jet engines?

  • loL its rather sad that the jetski engine used for the fans were louder than the traction engine...

  • those are two snomobile engines that litterally suck the car to the ground. which is one of the reasons they are not allowed in circits anymore, for assisted downforce

  • What a scream

  • WHy did they put fanengines on this thing??

  • @CobraMarty The car has skirts that create a seal between the car and the road. The fans suck air out from under the car which creates a vacuum = sucking the car down to the road. The fans create as much downforce with the car sitting still or going full speed.

You need max downforce in corners - which are usually taken slower than the rest of the track. Having max downforce at slower speeds is better than wings and spoilers.

  • @gigem85 the chaparral have backwheeles ?? i dnt see

  • @gigem85 and then they "banned" it from competition :(

  • @ikrit88 yeh: sux, don't it?

  • @gigem85 generally agree with you, but when you said it creates max downforce at slow speed, i see what you mean as the fan is always running but surely at high speeds there is additional downforce from the rest of the car. with it being that shape and having a flat floor ect which naturally creates downforce at high speeds wouldnt that create more overall downforce with the fans running still in high speed corners?

  • @gigem85 so does that mean you could drive it upside down in a tunnel going slowly like you could with an F1 car at full speed?

  • looks weird dude...

  • If you watch closely, you can see the car gets lower to the ground when the fans are started up.

  • @nist7 I think that may have something to do with the fact that the camera is wobbling slightly...

  • hahahaha imagine going offroad with those vacuum fans on lol

  • it looks and sounds scarry :|

  • i saw the vacuum sucker race at the 1970 Can Am at Riverside raceway. Most everyone in the crowd laugh at it .. with good reason because it wasnt all that fast or impressive as a race car. Drivers hated being behind it .because they were getting hit my debris from the twin fans out the back of the car.

  • that sure sounds like a Chysler starter !!

  • on the snow mobile engine? maybe.

On the main engine - heavens no. Not on a Chevy 427!!!!! :-)

  • in reality, many engine builders used Chrysler starters on Chevys for high-compression applications because quite simply, they could handle it !! I know that it's not a Chrysler engine in there !

  • I don't doubt you. Just kidding about a Chrysler starter on a Chevy engine. I knew what you were meaning. Guess it's better than putting a F-O-R-D part on there. HA HA.

  • oh no, you see, that hurts... I like the Ford cars (sports cars) of the 60's.... GT40's, MKIV's, P-68's... pretty awesome vehicles..

  • yeah - I'll admit I like Fords from that era too And the Mustangs.

You need to come to Midland, TX and see the Chaparral cars in person. They are really something.

  • a few years back Jim brought a bunch of them to Road America... 1, 2, 2j, 2e, 2f.. it was wonderful

  • are they street legal

  • Yes - according to 196X standards. I don't think they would pass today's standards - definitely not emissions :-)

  • i own one in grandturismoe 4 they are sweet man i tell u sweet

  • @09viper Yeah, it grips like a barnacle! I wonder what kind of speeds the real car can pull on the curves?

  • The little 2 stroke engine is powering the fans and drowning out the Chevy underneath

  • finally a video of a 2j!!! haha does it go as fast as gt4 says it does tho?

  • nice

  • ohh dammn a futuristic si-fi old classic cool car!!! i love em jet blowers back there 2j sounds gangsta! lol

  • its a superpowered weed wacker

  • Holy damn.
