I think the two cymbals together ended up sounding very smooth and washy, almost like a background hiss. If you use a cyclops plastic tambourine at a downward angle, it's really loud and articulate. That way you can hear the awesome fast triplets right before the last section.

The cymbal sounded stronger. The tambourine got swallowed. It's 2 cymbals on top of each other.
