That looked like a Northeast Regional train but by 2008 the Boston section of the Lakeshore Limited was the only Amtrak train running on this line. What's up with that? Temporary detour for drawbridge repairs on the Shoreline or something?
Yes, all my train crossing videos so far have been at one of three crossings: Here; Main St, which is where this train just went through before passing by me; and downtown Framingham, MA.
Also, this has a much better horn than the MBTA commuter trains. XD
Katsuki, this is one of the most powerful train videos I've seen. An amazing capture with some luck that there was good horn action from the engineer!
All I hear at :43 is the sound of the train's whistle at the other crossing and its bell ringing. From that distance, the bell sounds like a high-pitched sound. Maybe that's what you were hearing? If not, then the sound was not picked up by the camera's mic.
I can hear the sound through the mic actually XD; But when I was there I slipped off my headphones and heard it was definitely coming from the track. It's a high-pitched hissing sound, it sounds like screeching from the wheels or something but it was actually the tracks themselves doing this.
I don't doubt that you heard something, I've heard rails make noices as trains approch. The rails do vibrate and the hissing may be the metal parts holding the rails to the ties rubbing together.
I heard a steam engine in the background

Yeah someone else had said it could be that, and that does sound like it's possible.

yeah the tracks make that sound whenever a train is approaching, its very annoying to me but its a good sign a train is coming

What's with all the Amtrak?

What do you mean? XD; The Amtrak comes through here regularly, so I always end up catching it when I go 'railfanning'. XD
