Lol you fools are funny a aftermarket manifold be it a intake or exhaust is not going to make a difference in exhaust sound, my 02 24valve with ATS compounds, ATS Ark flow intake manifold and ATS 3 piece exhaust manifold sounds just like a stock truck (minus the extra whistle from the compounds)
@hububub46 honestly its not a waste and im sure he rather be a redneck than a fucking city homo who wants a clean enviorment go back to your own business and dont fuckin comment if you aint gotta anything good to say. matter of fact this truck is badass and warranty who needs a damn warranty just get insurance.
Insuring that the hearing aid industry has future customers. Don't get me wrong I like straight pipes, but straight out the back, so all I hear when cruising is a muted tone
flex tubing???? really?? thats a really expensive truck for a scrub exhaust job like that!! maybe on a slopped together first or second gen. but on an 08 6.7???
@MaGoo285 when ya put stacks on trucks your supposed to have a short section of flex pipe in between the 90 going up to the stacks so that you isolate the engine and exhaust movement from the actual stacks and plumbing in the bed of the truck
yea, and while you are at it kiss your warranty good bye..nice job....What do you put in the pick up bed?? obvsioulsy nothing...this truck probably cost more than the trailer you live in...typical red neck...waste of video!
@hububub46 Um, in case you can't tell, the stacks don't really take up all that much room in the bed. Using stacks is better than normal exhaust, you save weight, not that much, obviously, but still... They look cool, don't they... Oh, wait, you are an ecomentalist, so to you, no it doesn't look cool.
@gchs1987 DPF stands for diesel particulate filter, and it basically filters out all soot and unburnt fuel frim the exhaust gasses. there is an onslaught of sensors to make it all work, but that's all the dpf does. It works basically like a cat conv.
What tuner are you using for this delete? My dad's 09 has 4" straight tailpipe, no DPF, no catalytic convertor, EGR disabled, and runs it with a Smarty S67ME and there is no codes at all and plenty of power and good mileage.
i have 08 6.7 cummins with dpf delete 6 in stacks and a smarty s67 and south bend double disc....watching your vid got me to do the delete awesome sound and exhuast braking sounds even better
DPF stands for diesel particulate filter. Basically traps all of the soot, smoke, and unburned fuel molecules to be burned during a Regeneration period, typically while cruising down the freeway. This makes the air coming out the tailpipe on a diesel truck nearly cleaner than the air going in the intake. Downside is high exhause backpressure and therefore lost power.
well during a regeneration the soot in the filter turns to ash and settles to the bottom. It does eventually fill up but i think the service life is supposed to excede the life expectacy of the truck. The problem they were having at first is that the controller was not commanding a regeneration of the filter and therefore became plugged. It was more of a problem with the software of the engine controller than the actual part.
yeah, but from what understand automakers are using urea. some of the new d-maxes come with it along with the blue tech cummins. Youd think that urea would be less restrictive than a particulate filter? idk how clean on these smaller diesels it would make it but the new line of massys that have urea produce very very little emissions with alot of power for a red tractor haha
@Maximum777Payne not my truck. Mine doesn't have a DPF, never did. I get 23 mpg in my Diesel Suburban,If it ever did have a dpf I'm sure it would only get 17mpg
Don't listen to CaptainObviousHere or azkcr they're just bein dicks. Stealhcorvettes right. Its a particulate filter and it removes diesel particulate matter(soot) from exhaust gas of a diesel engine
You guys wont believe this but ATS pretty much blew the whistle to the EPA about us using DPF delete kits and giving them information on what companies are selling them and telling them we are using them on the street. What a bunch of rat bastards! Its on diesel power mag . com, under the oilwell forum.
I bet ya the Jake sounds bitchen in there, especiall at midnight in a neighborhood! lol! you don't seem to have the truck going into regen mode.. unfortunately your warranty is voided?
It's just a soft code. The truck will not go into limp mode, and you will get better mpg. If you have a programmer like the BD PMT or Edge then you can clear the code on startup, and you won't have the CEL on. I'd go to K2performance though, and just delete the entire egr system.
@yzf411 Once the odometer clicks over your warranty limit, get in under that hood and rip all the environmental bullshit you can find out. Who gives a fuck anyway, who's going to pull you over? A DOT? Hah, just puke out some smoke to blind the bastard and take off down the highway, dumb son of a bitch will never catch you.
Well the mpg was good but now my truck is tryng to go into regen and the company i bought my dpf delete from (H&S) is giving me a hard time fixing it. Its very loud when your on it but thats what i wanted!
Could you define "good" mpg? I can squeeze 24 out of mine when I'm easy on it. I'm not too concerned about the noise. IS the torque and response still good?
If you are getting 24 out of a 6.7 cummins dont touch it....mine didnt get that kind of milage from the factory and i would find it hard to believe any 6.7 can get that kind of milage with all the emmissions stuff still on
Well, I gotta admit, the MPG has taken a dive with increased milage and colder temperatures. Maybe the emmission stuff doesn't work right away? The 24 mpg was the first couple tanks. I thought it would stay that way. I was wrong. Currently in the mid teen range 15 or 16 mpg average all hyway. Are you having any further problems with the dpf removal kit? Does it still try to do its re-gen thing?
ahhh its all opinion. the exhaust on the 12 valves and 24 valves was a lot smoother, it didnt have the raspy noise when u romp on it like the common rail 5.9's do or the 6.7's. the pre-common rail cummins' had a smooth deep tone all the way through the RPM band.
also u can barely even hear the engine (at anything except idle) while inside the cab with the 6.7
dont get me wrong i love the sound of the 6.7's, but i just prefer the sound of the 12 valves or even the 24 valves a little more
@filthydirtyhooker I'm gonna throw the bs flag on that one. I work for dodge, and i haven't seen ONE 6.7 even get over 18! 20 would be impressive, but 24, yeah right.
@yzf411 You may or may not have the "right" to remove the egr. You do need something that will clear the codes it will throw when you delete the DPF.
There's a dongle thing that makes the ECM believe the DPF and catalyst are still there.
Look at H&S performance :)

It's where you pour sand into your intake. Your turbo blasts it through your motor making a homemade port/polish job. It works awesome! Try it.
