Wait an till you have pay for rent and the taxes and so on, then you might not like Dorset as much. I live on Portland and was born there to. Portland at the mo is the dearest place to live ( shopping bills are up 17% compared to just 12% in other areas of England, since July 2009 ) and the rent is up 13.9%, compared to just 10% in other areas of England.
Apart from the bills, I love Dorset, it has beaches, towns, countryside all in one small area.
