I'd just like to point out that it was stated during a couple of interviews that the band wants the fans to interpret the songs how they feel they should. Therefore, it may have a meaning to the band, but could mean something totally different to the fans, and it's not like the band would kill them for seeing it differently. In fact, it sounds like that's exactly what they're trying to get the fans to do.

Occam's Razor is a philosophical concept, named after Occam (or Wilhelm von Ockham in the original German).

The definition of Occam's Razor is that every theory should be cut down to the most simple form.

I think, with all the adumbrations to christianity (Holy Roller, under the cross, etc.), this song tells us that every religion should become a victim of Occam's Razor in favour of science and/or individual believs.

"Occam's razor" (the concept, not the meaning of the song) is: if there are two hypothesis that explain the data equally well choose the simpler. Occam's razor (the concept, "O.R.') is not exactly about cutting every theory to its most simple form because if that were true you could say (1) The world is complex so it must've been created by a god (2) Therefore god exists.  That is simple, but not using O.R.. Using O.R., a god is not necessary to explain (1).
