  • Mission accomplished!!! Thanks so much for this video it helped me immensely! I finished my first pair of socks, which were intended to be a Christmas 2011 gift for my husband. . . I wrapped up the first sock along with a ball of yarn and promised that I would finish the second after Christmas. I'm all finished and totally ready to start my second pair of socks!!!

  • Thanks so much. I'm so very excited about having knitted my very first sock ever! I made a purple one for practice using the only type yarn I have right now - worsted weight. So, I cast on the number of stitches you did. Your tutorials are so wonderful. I can't believe I knitted a sock! I made mittens following your instructions earlier in the week. Where can I send you pics? Oh, and what size circular needles did you use in this video? I used US 8 because those are all I have.

  • Thanks so much.

  • Thanks Kelley, for your generosity in loading these. You have carried me through my first pair of socks, just finished today. I love your clear commentary and sense of humor.

My question is, is it necessary to block socks? cheers,

    Sarah

  • @equilie I only tend to really block socks if they have any kind of lace patterning on them, so the design stands out more clearly, or if I am giving them away as gifts - then I tend to block the socks.

  • Thanks a million...I did 3needles binding and it didn't look right also leaves a horrible seam line...very unforgivable line...now I can close the toes part and make it looks pretty...thank you sooooooooooooo muchhhhhhhhhh :)

  • Finally! I got it! Thanks......

  • Love all your videos on how to knit socks. Thank you SO much! Really helpful. I will give it a try :)

  • Thank you for your enthusiasm and easy to follow teaching about making socks. Just finished my first sock! I just taught myself to knit a month ago and just know how to do knit and pearl and wanted a way to make something useful (as in NOT a scarf). I love that this is a concept project - and I don't have to follow a pattern. I do not know how to do that yet, but I can make beautiful socks!!! and without a pattern!

  • oh my gosh!!! Thanks for the simple easy video!! i have been putting off my toes for a long time, the toes scare me!!! thank you! i think i can do this!! Love the pod cast!!! thank you!!

  • wonderful video on this i want to make socks

  • Thank you! This is such a great video. Everyone had me freaked out about how hard the Kitchener stitch is, but you demystified it. Piece o' cake! (And thanks for the good advice about keeping it loose! Big help!)

  • Love her!!! I'm going upstairs to try and get past the gusset again! Wish me luck! Sockland here I come!

  • thank you !! i do this on the mittens now... thank you thank you. I cannot thank you enough... sorry, but did I say thank you yet?? haha

  • I love to knit, but i´ve never knitted a sock before. I found your videos from Youtube. Every step of the way though my first pair of socks i´ve checked them. Thank you for these very helpful videos - best tutorials that i´ve seen.

    Best regards from Estonia,

    Jane

  • A 16 year knitter, mostly self taught, never attempted socks before. I found your videos and finally felt that I could do it. I followed all the sock videos as I made my first sock without any problems at all. I use two circular needles to make my socks. Your videos are wonderful and very easy to follow. I only wish that they somehow had a numbered system so I could tell which one came next. Without being familiar with the sock terminology I found myself guessing which video to watch next. Thanx

  • Soo... Is there anyway to do something equal to the kitcheners stitch without a blunt needle? Is it possible with just your knitting needle?

  • @iaMyla You could do what is called a 3-needle bind off, but that will leave a seam on the inside which might be uncomfortable.

  • @knitpicks Thanks for the answer. I found a blunt needle, and my socks are great ^^ Thank you for making these videos =D

  • thank you kelly. that was an awesome learning experience. i'm going to knit my first pair now. i wanted to before but i don't have four needles, i have cable needles. so thank you so much because now my dream of knitting socks can come true!

  • The entire video series up to this point was fantastic! For some reason I cannot do the kitchener stitch to save my life so... :P But thanks!

  • Another big THANK YOU from a rookie sock knitter. I have checked with your videos every step of the way though my first pair of socks, made for my size 15 EEEE footed son, so I had no pattern to follow, just mostly your instructions. Thank you for taking the time to put these videos up.

  • I just want to say THANK YOU so much for this wonderful video. I have used it on two pairs of sock and for me is the only one that has help me greatly. You are a wonderful teacher.

  • I've seen many kitchener demos. This is by far the best one I've seen. The instructions are clear and concise, I don't feel like I'm being talked down to, and the video quality is excellent. Brava, Kelley!

  • I had no one to ask about sock making and you got me through it! Thanks. I had a pattern that was supposed to be easy but never having knit a sock before, the logic of the instructions and the topography were confusing. If pictures are worth 1000 words, then videos are worth 10,000 !

  • The best

  • Priceless instruction! Clear and concise but with Kelley's great personality. It made me wonder how I've waited so long to learn -- think of all the projects I've avoided because of the lack of this skill. Thank your for all the great Knit Picks tutorials!

  • Thank you very much, is the best tutorial I´ve seen!

  • Thank you so much I am not so scared to knit socks on circulars. But do you know where I could find long circular needles because the one I have now is too short. :)

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for such clear and easy to understand instructions! I was looking for help on using the magic loop method and watched your entire series. Not only am I excited to try magic loop now, but I picked up so many more helpful tidbits in the process! Again, thank you so much and keep up the great work!
