Back for my semiannual visit :) I think the Armstrong soundtrack is perfect...it was a wonderful world back then...and Hollywood was the land of sunshine then. Plus he played in LA in the 1920s.
Hollywood is the biggest contradiction of human expression...total manufactured fantasies for escape, and the most well-organized, best paying of all the industries. And for those who "make it"(and have the brains to avoid its temptations and distractions), the ultimate occupational mecca. ;])
Fabulous! Never knew Grantland Rice did movies...what a great sportswriter he was. Love the clips of Thelma Todd at the beginning when Neil Hamilton is pouring the champagne in the boat. She was a beauty.,,and what an expert rider. That was no stuntwoman riding. I think the beach is Santa Monica. Love the croquet game on the lawn, and the child star wearing the Yankees shirt...Rice must've gotten that for him. Looks like it was filmed in a real corner lot. Thanks for the memories CineGraphic!
The footage of Robert Armstrong is especially rare. I believe it is from the movie, "Celebrity" (1928), which co-starred Lina Basquette. I have been unable to find a copy of this film. So, these may be the only scenes remaining from the film.

Very nice video, though you should change the soundtrack, it doesn't fit the clip. Replace it with tunes from the time.

This is a bit ironic–how magical their lives seemed to have been without YouTube, Facebook, and 500 television channels.

Louise Fazenda was quite a woman. Please check out her history - and learn something. God bless her...

Quite a find! Where did you get this?
By the way, maybe it's just me, but I barely recognize Thelma Todd here.
