  • I hate when Goth is confused with "emo".

    It gets veryyy annoying...

  • Comment removed

  • You're cute. (:

  • the only post i've seen worth reading is that of ceke72. one must realize that not everyone who appreciates original gothic literature and design or the modernized umbrella term 'goth' dresses ad rem to the stereotype of modern scene standards or listens to 'goth' music. i feel that to 'be goth' today all it requires is an appreciation for any interest that qualitatively reflects either the modern or historical gothic realm. if we outcasts truly despise judgemental ppl, why do it to each other?

  • What are some stereotypes, misconceptions, about the gothic sub-culture? I'm trying to understand the sub-culture. and not be just another judgemental person. Any info at all would be helpful.

  • I remember when I was 12 everyone would pick on me for being a "baby bat" they said it was a phase and shit like that. But ever since I can remember I have loved darker things and also had somewhat of a preoccupation with death (cliche, I know). I still do and I don't see it ever going away... Phase my ass! I'm 17 and I have was meant to be goth since I was born. :)

  • I'm sure someone has already pointed this out, but the term 'Goth' actually comes from Andi Sexgang (Sexgang Children), kind of by way of Siouxsie & the Banshees. Siouxsie once described the musical direction of an album as 'Gothic', Andi Sexgang was a Banshees fan, & very flamboyant so people like Ian Astbury started calling him 'The Gothic Goblin' & 'Count Visogoth', and the fans of Sexgang Children became 'Goths'. It was a joke term at first, that ended up catching on.

  • your very cute:) if i may say. but you need to speak up a bit ''anunciate'' as my teacher mr minton would say

  • FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, FORBID ME FOR WANTING TO FLAME SOME OF THESE PPL FOR NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!"calm down calm down" at some point, we all was clueless and confused about something. I'm sorry =P toooooo many stupid comments, i want to just give like 5 ppl a thumbs down.

  • I heard the term was officially coined by Joy Division's manger that said they were gothic compared to the pop mainstream.

  • Ok...A your cute ;) B the beeping in the background is horrid....C the sound is very very off...would be nice to be able to hear you better...

    aside from that good video.

  • um goth is a better term than death rock scean you know why? cus alot of people dont fit into death rock i use everything half the time i dont even look goth to most people and the other half i do you dont have to look it all the time to be it and i dont like to wear all black i perfer to it mixed with colors like greens and purples and blues. my friends call me the negative because i like to wear alot of white with a little black

  • lol, you listen to deathrock once.... and you can hear just what they mean by the word goth, haha

  • Heres to deathrock !!!!!! <3 <3 I dont like when people from the gothic scene say 'we' and refer to them all .... just because of the major differences in all the different types of goth there are now... :S

  • God dammit Andrea, No matter what I do, I always end up being caught in one of your ramblings and incapable of looking away from my screen..

  • goth is for people who are to lame for black metal

  • @gorbagthrash Black metal is a genre of music under the Goth scene :P

  • @erickamos666 You're both wrong. Black Metal is dark but it is a subgenre of metal. Metal is not relative to the original Goth scene. I am a Black Metaller but I also do like Goth music. I respect both but I also accept the fact that they are different.

  • @metaldorksforever666 i didnt say black metal came before goth. and black metal IS hate so ill keep on hating. f.o.a.d

  • @gorbagthrash Black metal has so much more than hate. I can see you're rather narrow minded. I suppose you think you're so grim and kvlt right? Stop acting like a kid and grow a pair. It's people like you who are the reason black metal is sucking now. You can't keep it true, or have respect. Black metal is everything, black metal is anything you want it to be not just hate. Don't be so one-sided. It has so much beauty to it, so much you must be blind to. Try symphonic.

  • @metaldorksforever666 i wont lie. im elitist as fuck. but im not soooooooo one sided. i listen to all sorts of music. it just so happens i think goth is a very weak metal genre. by the way black metal isnt sucking now. cascadian black metal bands are the best thing to happen to bm in 20 years.

  • @gorbagthrash There are too many people who think their so "kvlt" they've lost their own meanings. Black Metal is sucking now just as much as Death Metal. The 90's was the best. I'm not going to lie, I can act like an elitist sometimes too but I try not to be an asshole. I think that Gothic Metal is a weak genre because it is neither very Metal or very Gothic and usually sounds like shit. Goth is strong and Metal are strong as separate entities usually.

  • @gorbagthrash And unless you plan on growing up, it is you who needs to do the fucking of and dying.

  • @gorbagthrash You're wrong, Black Metal is part of metal. Goth is part of Goth and was around a few years before Black Metal came out. The aesthetic of Black Metal didn't come around till even later after Goth was already launched in full blast. Goth is as respectable of a culture as the metal scene but both cultures tend to have a lot of poseurs and hypocrites. I am a Black Metaller and recognize this but I also have respect for real Goths. Don't be a hater.

  • Goth girls usually have big titties too. lol

  • ur hot :)

  • Whats the reason for being "Gothic".

  • @DMCCOMMANDO There is no single master reason for people being goth. You have to ask the individual.

  • i am actually in love with you. i don't know why.

  • I am obsessed about the gothic outfits omg they are really cool I am not gothic and I will never be :S

  • It'll never change

  • Can you tell about goths are goth, and vampires are they evil

  • Informative.

  • *Is Everyone Forgetting That Goth Is A Musical Genre???* Fashion Is Something Entirely Different!!!!

  • @gerryevil goth isnt just a musical genre, its a lifestyle. Fashion is incorperated into the subculture as well as music, but there also has to be some degree of compromise in certain areas of both for there to actually be one whole name

  • @SilensRenata

It's A Life *Choice*. Fashion Is Fun & All But It's Mainly For Self-Expression. Would A "Goth" All Of A Sudden Be "Ungoth" If They Wore A Pair Of Jeans? Of Course Not. Just As Wearing A Black Coat Wouldn't Make Someone "Goth". The Term Is Very General. Ex: The Band Members Of Joy Division Were Called "Goth",(They Themselves, Not Their Music) Yet They Never Labeled Themselves As Such.

  • @gerryevil agreed there, I just didnt agree on the whole music genre comment because the fashion and thought process has a foothold as does the music part of it

  • @SilensRenata

Don't Get Me Wrong, I Love The "Goth" Look, I Just Dislike That Some People Only See It As A "Look" & Don't Even Know Who Bands Like The Sisters Of Mercy Are. Like You Said, There's More To It. :)

  • Such a pretty lady! :D

  • YOUNG GOTHIC LADY GAGA! :)

  • @chelcroyaltemptress without the Lady Gaga.

  • you are very very beutiful

  • I'm on your side sister. Goths are oppressed by other peoples. That must be end with insults and slanders. (Sorry my english is very bad.)

  • your hot lol

  • On some points, I have to think you're mistaken, and I made the same mistake, because Goth as we know it started with the music which was inspired by the literature and classical forms of music. The name came from a Germanic tribe considered barbaric & became synonymous with being ugly or unattractive, hence the architecture. The literature comes from the nature of the character's pain. Arabesque is more psychological fear or pain, Gothic is more physical & immediate.

  • Hope that wasn't overly critical. You made some great points. Logistically, try to use a plug-in mike or speak on the vowel to make your voice clearer. I guess you had to keep it down, but it was a little hard to hear you. Otherwise, it was a good video. Sorry this is coming 4 years later. I do like how you point out some people just dress slutty with touches of Goth style, or try to be unique. Sufficed to say, I was different & the term just worked for me much later in life than teens.

  • I am just curious about "wicked" girls. Maybe meaning if they are into some other religion like, well,if wikka is not sinful enough, maybe Satanism. I might be wiling to enslave myself to the right goddess.

  • As a "goth" girl, I know that 90% of "goths" don't act as people say we do. We're not depressed, angry all the time, crazy, or disruptive. Most of us are A/B students and not all of us get into trouble and do drugs. There are an equal amount of football players who are on steroids, for every trouble-making "goth". Don't judge a group as a whole just because there are a few morons.

  • Labeling Yourself As ANYTHING Is To CONFORM.

  • @gerryevil Labels are cool if you choose to carry them, stereotypes are not!

  • @loveunderlaw

Sure, It's A Matter Of Choice.

    -love under will

  • Do you also like Horror Punk? I mean between Gothic and Horror Punk, they both wear black, and Eyeliner. I mean yeah, Misfits it the progenitor of Horror Punk, but would a Goth listen to Horror Punk? Me, I'm mostly a Horror Punk person.

  • @UndeadxGothic agreed i get that alot to mainly from chavs

  • I'm a baby-bat, and I'm not trying to annoy my parents. I just want to be a goth when I get older. So that isn't entirely true.

  • I wonder just how many "real Goths" nowadays would still have taken an interest in the Gothic period and dress the way they do had it not grown into a "subculture".

  • no offence to goths' style or what so ever but she is beautiful if she woke normal make up and i would probably ask her out!

may be you should give it a try kalodaimon

  • you look like a scary ghost ! awesome! where did you get the necklace??

  • Now remember folks this is just a subculture like many others. Thrashers, Deathheads and other sorts of metalheads are also a subculture. So judging someone for their choice of lifestyle is kind of shallow and dumb. I've got respect for this girl for actually making it clear what goth is. You want to know the difference between historical and subculture goths message me.

  • no one is a goth, you can however be into goth fashion and music or inspired by sed things, but no one in my eyes is a "goth" the title goth was actually an insult, since goths where barbarians, so it was sort of like calling people with a dark aesthetic "barbaric" me I'm just somebody who likes a Dark aesthetic and music, but I am not a "goth"

  • @bluBlaq33 Then your explanation for Gothic architecture which people over the centuries have complimented on their beauty and majestic appearance is what?

Yes, you are right that it in the times of the ROMANS being called Goth was an insult, but words change. Let us look at the word, "gay." It once meant happy and now means one of homosexual nature. You can even argue that it also means something is stupid.

Words don't always retain their original meanings over the years my friend.

  • Comment removed

  • @bluBlaq33 my point is the title is irrelevant i just believe that some people in the world have a love and see beauty either in the macabre or simply things they may view as "Dark" I don't believe in a group of people that all dress the same in order to feel connected or even like a type or many types of music to bring them closer, that to me sounds like a huge fan club with a huge inside perspective that the artists never had, I enjoy the Yin and even the yang but I am not apart of a coven

  • @bluBlaq33 Ok, so you send me a message back then delete it on the video. Too bad that YT sends the message to the recipient. Your whole argument is made invalid by your own first comment. You can't claim that calling someone a Goth is using the derogatory term from the past with the Romans then turn around and claim that Gothic arch. doesn't count. It is hypocritical to such a thing. If you are Goth then you are GOTH! We are not all the same, but labels let us take some insight to someone easier.

  • @bluBlaq33 So... we should stop calling soldiers, soldiers? We should stop calling people in business business men/women? We should stop calling people who like to rave, Ravers? You are just painting yourself as a NotAGoth and nothing more. You're entitled to your opinion, but labels let us understand people before talking to them. Obviously, if you go to a Raver and start talking about classical music concert you may be greeted with some unease with them. Labels =/= every person, but a big sum.

  • @Requiem9001 isn't that prejudgement, your missing the point, labels in terms of prejudgement , I've met people of various calibers I actually know a girl who's into rave music and style who loves mozart, so no i will not be one sided, hahahaha your really counting the clothes your wear and music you like to be as big as a title for a mane or women who a government chooses to suffer for people??? really it's not even on that level to compare if you want your clothes wear you then be my guest .

  • @bluBlaq33 So you go into every single situation in your life being dumber than rock? I think not. You always prejudge something before you deal with it be it people or events. Trying to deny it means you are trying to deny you are human. As for the girl you know, read the last thing I said that labels match a large sum, but not everyone. That means to every group there is still exceptions. You show you have no understanding of how labels work and just repeating some crap you've heard elsewhere.

  • @Requiem9001 no I meet people assuming nothing, with an open mind, not calling somebody something, it's truely not worth arguing over, trying to say all people have the same perspective as you do it denying variety, I see things differently you can dislike it fine, you can place people in boxes if that makes sense to you, but I will not I don't believe in being the music someone else created and being the clothes someone else made, those reflect your personality to an extent but nothing more Imo

  • @bluBlaq33 You confuse me...You are right, it is your opinion in the long run, but you still claim you can't label someone, but all your conversation back you keep labeling things. You seem to say things like, "I know a girl who likes Rave"which means you have labeled her under a type of music she likes.Maybe she only likes some and not enough to really be said to like Rave music.I like a little Rap, but not enough to say I like Rap.I think you take the word judge to mean something 100% negative.

  • @Requiem9001 I believe in labeling things, like music thats fine to me, but it's not necessary, I said she liked rave music that could be trance happy hardcore etc, those are just the types of music, I have not labeled her I only knew because she told me I knew her very well, I've met people who others called "goth" but I got to know them and realized they weren't they just like a dark aesthetic , one of them liked brittney spears and people where shocked about that, but I wasn't I said why not

  • like I said before I like Some goth rock, and other related music, I like ethereal things with dark overtones, I enjoy neo-romanticism and things that are macabre, HOWEVER I just don't have in my person to call myself something some else created, at the end of the day if none of this existed i'm still going to be here, clothes come off, I place no value, I am not the thread on the garment that s to my liking, subcultures seem judgmental, they become they very thing they are against

  • @bluBlaq33 Subcultures all have different things they are for/against. There are people who dress like a subculture, but have nothing to do with, but only dress it because it looks cool. We welcome people like that, but simply ask they respect those of us who are actually apart of it for ourselves. Most subcultures aren't actually hypocritical, but allow wiggle room to allow for people to be themselves. They're not religions with enforced dogma. Why are you so opposed to a labels if I may ask?

  • @Requiem9001 I just don't belive in similar clothing styles and music uniting people who claim it's for a bigger purpose when those are merely superficial things, they exclude and include, it's no better then a country club usually, and frankly most of the people in then can't compute my thinking, this was created by people who where just being themselves, which was there point in dressing and acting as they did, the rest of the people doing as they did are followers

  • and also these labels are practicly non-existent if there was no name, edgar allen poe was dark and creepy long before anyone did anything, the purpose of punk was not to be a punk and actually people who where involved in the music in the past say themselves "being punk isn't punk", same goes for goth to be a goth, you must not be one, to me someone who takes it seriously and it's not just a meaningless aesthetic does something big with it the speaks beyond the clothes,

  • and I'm aware it's not just clothes, if goth is about being yourself......why use the term, and it's funny how they want to be tolerated yet in "goth" clubs whenever somebody who doesn't look like a poorly dressed vampire walks in they are so quIck to judge, more so then some people who aren't goth, my persepective threatens most of them especially since they think i am one so they back off, these where rebelious labels created to do just that, and they've become cliche's now

  • @bluBlaq33 To have a term for people who are similar doesn't interfere with them being unique among themselves. Your argument is very myopic at best. As well, you seem to label all Goth clubs as housing judgmental people. Doesn't this make you a hypocrite, since you "don't like labels"? Mall Goths tend to be judgmental, but they're in their angsty teen days. Go to a club where there tends to be older folks and you will find very little of this "judgmental" concept you think they have.

  • @Requiem9001 hahahahaha ummm funny how much you sweat the small stuff do I believe in labels HELL NO but it's a goth club because they play music associated with sed music, these people want to called goths am I correct and also I was there just to see after all I do like that type of music, I'm done you can label and mak assumptions based on people all you want I will not, my point is to be dorky and say "this isn't goth, I'm so goth" goth goth goth goth goth,

  • MY POINT IS nobody was EVER "GOTH" this was something somebody else other the the Artists in bands created, Siouxsie Sioux HERSELF said that she was NEVER a goth, my point is goths are followers just like everybody else, people need to find there own identity in not something as neatly categorize themselves when we are all humans where worth more then something as juvinile as calling yourself something, "I'm a goth I'm apart of the goth community" it just sounds dumb the end, good bye

  • @bluBlaq33 You don't have a clue what your point is. You have created double standards constantly through this whole conversation saying you don't label then go on to label people. You even label yourself as a none labeler. Sad that you can't realize it is impossible to not be labeled as something. You are the very essence of the thing you seem to despise. Your anger is very laughable. You are mad at a difference in opinions and a simple conversation. This speaks leagues to you as a person. Bye.

  • i think what is being do here is great its giving people in site on how people are diffrent from the world and not some threat

  • being Goth is a big deal because alot of people died for being goth nobody have the right to say (oh wats the big deal oh its just a style oh their wierd) go fuk ur self WE ARE THE FUTURE almost every culture now a days wanna go goth and ry to turn it into a different style bullshit! i remember when skate boarding wasnt cool, i remember when wearing tight pants wasnt cool, i remeber when mohawks wasnt cool c-com give me a break FUCKING THUMBS UP IF U AGREE!

  • Real people don't need labels.Besides, there are too many retarded standards to being "goth".People say it's the music.I don't ALWAYS wear all/mostly black but I like the cure, yet by someones standards I'm considered goth because I like them. Some people consider me a "poser" because I'm not in all black 24/7(not that I have a choice because I have something called a JOB,that doens't allow my style in their employment),and this is despite my taste in music and style that matches this subculture

  • I am into goth style music and subculture but I dress like your average person. I dont believe that you need to be head to toe 'goth' to be interested in the way of living. I hate being boxed into a category.

  • i would like to know if there is such a thing as punk goth ..... i like all goth things and i like all punk things ... and i want to know why people all ways call me emo wen i think i look more goth or punk then emo at the moment wen people do that i feel just like they are just looking at the whaterd down steryo tipe of goths or punks reather then just looking at me for me

  • (i think of my self as a part of the goth and punk culture but not one of them due to these reasons ) i dont want to call my self goth for the same reason >3< thank you for saying that ..... i just dont like labeling my self as punk goth or emo .... then people will just see me as another goth or another emo a watered down stereotype of what it really is to be a punk or goth i am my self not just some watered down stereotype... i just like being my self thats all

  • RE:because they are gay

  • @Vend1cator91 Goths do tend to be gay. Are you watching this in celebration of coming out day?

  • @kalodaimon

    Goths tend to be gay?

    They may be exclusive,,,but ,,,gay??

  • @kalodaimon Most gothic men i know are either straight or bi, only a few i personally know are gay.

  • @kalodaimon Thats EMO, not Gothic

  • @Vend1cator91 fuck you

  • @k8g8s8 lol at this mad clown

  • @Vend1cator91

    Exclusive,,,but not gay.

  • You're very pretty. ^.^

  • Deathrock (America), Gothic Rock (UK). They were similar scenes which were grown from the Post-Punk music. Am I right?

  • I can't hear you.

  • You're beautiful c: we could be sisters -3

  • WOW, you look beautiful! you would make a great alternative model!

  • :)

  • I think you;re cute >_<

  • Some would even be willing to argue that Andi Sexgang in the early 80's was referred to as the king of the tribe, and his followers the "goths", primarily because of a beat up castle he lived in at the time. Also, it's not about "just being yourself" because you're not being yourself if you choose to listen to and do things that others are doing. It's about the music, that is all. You can choose to dress and do what you want...in the end it is music.

  • @Glowb0t THANK YOU somebody gets it

  • I love you am sorry

  • shit yr sexy ( i mean tht in a non vulgar way :)

  • I love your soul

  • 1 all religions includes Devil worship DUR!

  • If u were smart u would know that goths go to hell

  • @WroldsOfFun45 Goth is a subculture with people who follow all religions. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again on the third day, and I'm goth. So why are you saying that anyone--even a Christian--who looks for beauty in dark places, wears black and "strange" clothes, and acknowledges that the world is a scary place and death is a natural part of life goes to hell? You should get your facts straight before saying false things with the headline of "if you were smart".

  • @WroldsOfFun45 For aid in getting your facts straight: h ttp :// ww w. youtub e.c om/watch ?v=mQb4rQm-7_M htt p:// ww w.c hristiangot h.c om/ [take out the spaces]. Keep in mind that not everything the media says is fact, and stereotypes don't usually turn out to be true.

  • @WroldsOfFun45 If you actually read the bible you'd know that it says nowhere that goths go to hell. let me guess, you're apart of that stupid church god hates goths, huh? lemme tell you this, i read the bible, and YOU'LL probably go to hell for hating people, because in the bible it says god loves everyone, even the devil, and that you shouldn't hate others, so get over yourself, troll, and either put on your big girl panties, or grow a pair of balls, and face the facts. god is a chick.

  • @WroldsOfFun45 no they don't. I know plently of Christian Goths. Including me. Some of them may only because uh, even people that claim to be Christian go to hell. Anyone can go to hell, Goths have as much chance as anyone else to go to heaven as anyone see.

  • @WroldsOfFun45 no they don't. I know plently of Christian Goths. Including me. Some of them may only because uh, even people that claim to be Christian go to hell. Anyone can go to hell, Goths have as much chance as anyone else to go to heaven as anyone see.

  • What's that beeping noise?

  • Has anyone ever told you how amazingly attractive you are? I love you...

  • You look absolutely cool.

  • i like ur nacllece js

  • I wanted to listen to the whole vid but the beebing was so bad that i couldnt

  • One word ...Whaaaa ?

  • Also @chaochao16

    I understand that completely

Parents and going with this subculture

It's not a very pleasant mix of chemicals

They see it as "somethings wrong with my child"

    Sadly this simply isn't true

I feel like shit a lot

Especially if I look like shit "to myself" not others, theres no point to dressing up for others, they can like you for your personality not your "FREAKY" fashion

Parents and other teens/adults probably won't be openminded about it unless they or some one close to

  • One thing I really don't understand us the names

Why change your name to something else like rage?

I understand it sounds more powerful in some sort of way, but I don't know what the origin or reason for this action is.

  • @13justin666 Most goths don't change their name, because they find it silly. if you want to change your name, go for it, but most goths don't.

  • Finally someone who knows what they're talking about. Thank you Kalodaimon

  • freak out my parents, or that I'm extremely depressed all the time and hate my life. Neither of those are true. I only dress this way because I love it. Yes, I may get depressed, but that is because I am bipolar. I love my life though. I wouldn't want it taken away from me.

  • I don't mind calling myself goth, although it gets frustrating when people group me in with the mall goths. Most of them listen to bands like Slipknot and Marilyn Manson. People, including other goths, automatically assume that I'm just like that because I am only 16. I'm one of the few teens who will actually listen to real goth bands like Joy Division, Clan of Xymox, and The Sisters of Mercy. My current favorite would be The Cure. People also assume that either I'm a rebellious teen trying to

  • @Chaochao16 I know exactly how you feel, Chao! Don't take this the wrong way but I think I love you <3 lol

  • @amaranthskyther haha Glad to know someone understands! :)

  • @Chaochao16 I don't believe there is a real type of goth music. It touches who it touches. But no, marylin manson is NOT goth, and mall goths are just bullies.

  • aren't the goths like a germanic tribe that took over the Roman empire

  • @teamwork1productions Yeah, and then they sat around bitching about those "wannabee try-hards" the Vikings, who pinched their whole "barbarian" look and "invade, sack and pillage" thing... except of course the real Goths managed to sack Rome itself whereas all those newbie Viking wannabees could manage was a few monastaries and small towns...

  • I think you explained your opinion very well! I would agree with you about the 'rebelious' teens who just want to rebel against 'society' or their parents. By the way, do you know where the gothic subculture can be found in San Diego?

  • I dont agree. :/

  • your makeup is pretty

  • The goth subculture was made by the fans and creators of the music in the 80s built on punk but non violent and the fashion developed along music ranging from techno to batcave to industrial to classical elements and the fashion developed like made lightly following them. But everyone develops themselves.

  • Nice makeup.

  • So much of being Goth stems from the music that one listens to, and by that definition or standard, I would not be considered Goth. What defines me as goth to others would be my style of dress, my meloncholy mood and my love for dark literature, art and my rather morbid decor...But if I had to choose between Siouxsie and the Banshees or Metallica, it would be the latter, and I've often wondered, what kind of Goth does that make me?

  • Not all goths like the Deathrock Scene. There are different types of Goth. I certainly am not that into the deathrock scene and still consider myself a goth.

  • where do you find gothic clothing and do you have to look extravagent to look gothic.

  • because u are a bunch of poser !

ps:stop dressing like my grandma !

  • pitty about the weird sound kinda covering your voice but i got most of it id like to say your very smart :)

  • I want to go on a date with you to comicon. I will be Peter Steel.and you can be evanescence (you are hotter then her so if you can think of another female part you would play let me know)

  • @auroraslaugh: Wonder how many would brag about their latest kill if the animal shot back and could display their head on it's wall? The Native American Indian hunted with more respect and had more talent. He had to, his arrow had less range. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti American, nor anti hunting when survival is at stake, but I am anti gun.

  • @auroraslaugh: I think we have gone down the wrong path when guns become an accepted normal in any society. Maybe the fact that everybody gets on so well in your neck of the woods is if they didn't there's always the possibility of a shoot out.

  • Yes Sophie was killed by feet & was not the initial target for the attack but you have to admit Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold got more bangs for their buck useing weapons, & bottom line with so many gun owners, the possibility for more of the same goes up with every license issued. I respect your view that goth isn't a subculture, but reality is the look will always attract the attention either in complimentary or negative. We stand out & thats all it takes to be considered 'other then'

  • @auroraslaugh: I wouldn't talk so quickly. In America you're more likely to be shot what with all the guns around, and a pom goth girl 'Sophie Lancaster along with her boyfriend were bashed to death just a few years ago. (Though he survived) Here in Australia it's not that bad, yet. I'm english and went to the Bat Cave back in the 80's. England was the mecca for expressing all those primal expressions you seem to not want to acknowledge. There was punks, Rockers, Teddy Boys, Goths and many more.

  • @auroraslaugh: Agreed, but this young lady isn't basing her information on those times. She is stating that it started in America and was called 'The Death Rock Scene" which is what I pointed out to be wrong. The culture she is talking about started in England, in the 80's at the Batcave and is widely accepted now as being the birth place of modern day goth.

  • Well I'm still a teen and I'm very happy that my mom accepts that I'm a goth. She doesn't make me deny who I am and we go for walks together, being and enjoying ourselves.

  • I have no problem with calling myself goth. I actually quite like the name. When I hear it, it makes me think of all the things I love! You cant say that people who don't read the literature aren't true goths... and there are so many different styles of goth now too.. People can call themselves whatever they want in my opinion. I hate being called a baby bat though! I'm into the subculture right now and Im enjoying exploring it! If your goth you are unique! Your straying away from the norm.

  • WRONG, WRONG and WRONG. Goth started in England in a club called the Batcave in a year that by the looks of you, you wearn't even born in or before. (Early 80's) Long before America even heard of the term. We called ourselves Cavers after the club. The ENGLISH band Bauhaus's lead singer coined the name goth basing it on what he believed the music sounded like. Gee I love these American self styled goth informates that havan't got a clue.

  • @smacker57 UM no, listen, I'm sick of hearing how 'stupid' we americans are. We didn't copy you ever so annoying caver people (not saying all cavers are annoying, just you) And, although Goth got popular in America due to music, it was also do to gothic literature, art, and buildings. And NO, goth did not start in England. Only god knows where goth really started. it was obviously just more popular in England before America got their own verson of it. We won the war. Get over it.

  • @HatterMRULEZ : I'll reply like an american. (Adopts high pitched, whiney annoying voice) WHATEVEEEEER and OH MY GAWWWWD.

  • ...huh? What? Goth? Sorry, I was kind if preoccupied with that thing that sounded like a mosquito mixed with a pipe bomb.

  • oh yay, someone who understands. I'm a teen, but I am obsessed with the Victorian... well anything and read various pieces of gothic literature, not only frankenstein lol. It's like saying the most obvious Shakespear play, naming it or reading one piece isn't the same as knowing the genre. Also i love that you said that gothic isn't original in a sense, it isn't. When you are part of something, you are part of something that has been made by someone else, not yourself.... and is that so bad??

  • So ur goth? I always wanted to go goth.

  • Well, makeup choices are easy... black, black and.... black? :)

  • i know this shouldn't matter, but i can't get over how pretty your makeup looks.

  • Without the make up, are you still Goth? Is it an attitude or a fashion statement?

  • I admire your difference and how purely wonderful you are.

  • I don't know why people get so worked up over who and what is truly "goth" or not, like I always was into dark things and music of all types, and I say I'm interested in gothic things and such, but I don't follow a goth handbook or anything, I don't see teens calling themselves goths as fake, if they are being themselves. Just all people in this subculture come in different shapes and sizes and clothes and makeup, so I just wish everyone would let it stay at that.

  • @xshabootiex Amen ..

  • @xshabootiex i think so 2 but some people are not them selfs they just dont know what goth is they just call them selfs goths and that is why i dont want to call my self goth or punk

  • My goodness you have a lovely outfit there.

  • your to cute to be goth

  • YES!

someone who doesnt make goth look super scary xD

    Great job.

  • Let the thumbs down begin....

  • Mall goths, baby bats? Fucking ridiculous. I'm so glad I got off that sinking ship that was the "Goth" scene before it turned into the flaming shit pool it is now. Now that you're in your 20's (oooohh, you're so learned, and all-knowing-now right?) you criticize the teen fools who you think are just looking for attention or to annoy their parents, but guess what, you're just as pathetic as they are. Again, thanks for turning everything into a fucking lame, HOT TOPIC prefabricated joke.
