Very interested in your help in programming.. I just bought one, and like the perfect 4th down and the minor 3rd down patch.. could you post the settings?
is there and effect to give the sax a more agressive sound? i don't play it but i've herad some musicians and i'd like to know how they do it, im about to buy my first sax so it will help me a lot, thanks
Great demo of this pedal. I am a vocalist and i play a little sac and I use the TC Helicon Voice Live and also the TC Helicon G-XT these are great harmonizer pedals! So much I bought both of them. I tried the digitech 300 and the newer ones but TC is the smartest one I've used. I can use delay and reverb along with 8 parts harmony with these pedals. Try them they are meant fir vocals but they do great with sax and trumpets.
hey um wow...ok so like ive looked like everywhere and i also play tenor btw and ive tried some of my ways of trying to do growl on a sax. but honestly you seem to have it down really well. could you possibly tell me how to do that?
....loved the videos! I'm not a sax player---just a guy who likes to hear good music, good playing, and good sounds; and this series of videos had all of the above!
@cmshuf delay and reverb are on two different FX channels. The rest of the FX (phaser, pitch shift, flange, etc) are all on the same channel, and only one can be used at a time, but it can be used at the same time as reberb and/or delay.
Hey there! i love your effects very much! pretty much the harmonizer=)
i am gonna buy this one too but ive gotta question: is there any posibillity to save these settings on computer or to import settings to the fx-component?
Thanks for your videos. You got a great sound and phrasing! I've been trying to use effects on stage (lexicon rack effect, the Digitech GNX 3 multieffect board...). Some of them did not response fast enough if you changed the pitch (e.g. lexicon) but my main problem is feedback and the band (esp.drum) sound also coming through my effect. So in my fusion band "they don't allow" me to use delay or echo effects (which I love...) on stage. And do you use limiters or a 2nd mike for clean sound?
@jazzchamaeleon Thanks! I use the pedal's built in mix control for my dry/wet mix, aka "fx level". I can have a hint of wah under a mostly dry sax sound, or full on processed sound with no natural sax, or whatever I want. I've encountered the feedback problem too. I set the gate high so that if I'm not playing, nothing gets through the mic. I might get a compressor at the end of the signal chain to keep the signals even between patches. In the end, the stage volume can't be too loud. :)
I play alto and I found a cool effect you can do without an effects processor. I made this one up myself. It is called: Distortion fingering buzz effect. It can be done on an alto or tenor. I suggest alto. Anyway what u do is use the low note sidekey fingerings but, use the octave key and have the right ammount of mouthpiece in your mouth and you will get a buzz effect. I will post up a video on this when I get the time. Amazing! How long have u been playing sax?
you are amazing, I am in a band and chose the sax because you can play anything really especially rock, would you recomend this to a person who has only played for only 6 months, and how much do harder reeds make the sound better. Also, what type of sax is used in most rock solos. How do you growl.
The RIGHT reed strength is the key. 2.5 if your mouthpiece tip is wide open. Harder if you play all the time. A reed that's too hard can cause the wrong embouchure and give you a stifled sound.
Regarding growling, there are two kinds. The roll at the back of the tongue (like gargling but without water) and the vocal "push". The rolled tongue makes a pronounced rolling grown and works best in the middle range of the horn. The vocal growl (you actually only sing a note, but it sounds like a growl... don't actually growl or you'll strain your throat) works great in all registers.
...Because of the added resistance to the air stream you need to blow harder to get the note to speak as well. Don't hum the same pitch as you are playing as it will create intonation "beats". Instead, sing the note above or below the notes you're playing.

Thanks. I'm trying to find a way to get the sound of the saxophone in "Money" by Pink Floyd but in real time and not done after the fact. Do you think this pedal can do this?
The sax in that track is just a light reverb and a fast delay with a fast decay. The sound is all in the way Rick Perry plays. He growls some, overblows at times, bends notes and has a bright tone.
I covered that tune once and spent a while learning to play his solo the way he did. Funny though, the gig didn't pay... ;-)
Hmmm. I was told throughout his solo the amount of reverb in his sound changes and thats why some areas sound really "wet" and some "dry"(I don't know much about effects but that's how I would describe the difference)
I never listened for that, but it could be. That would be very hard for one to do in real time, but it could be done, and this pedal could do it. You could assign the reverb mix level to the expression pedal, or the amount of reverb, but the max would have to be only a moderate amount. Tricky stuff. I would focus on playing the actual solo with growls and bends perfect rather than spend the money and time just to try to get the reverb changes right. The changes aren't that noticeable, imho.
The expression pedal can have up to 3 effects - or parameters of effects - assigned to it. The only limitation is that most of the effects are in one "group", and you can only have one effect at any time, except for reverb and delay which are separate effects.
I have a patch with two different parameters of an effect (wah, I think) assigned to the expression pedal. I think one should be able to set the reverb depth as a third effect to be controlled simultaneously.
@mastersid02 I intend to do a few more vids with the levels higher so the sax doesn't come through so much. I will set up a reverb + effect patch and assign the reverb to the expression pedal, and I'll show how to create it on the Vocal300, so you can check it out. Might be a few weeks before I get around to it.

I'm wondering... is it possible to run multiple effects through this pedal at once, like, for instance, a fourth down plus delay?
Thanks!

So in parts like his long first note, thats a growl/bend and not crazy reverb? Also thanks for replying so quickly :)
mastersid02 2 years ago
3 questions:
1)Does this pedal have reverb that can be controlled through the expression pedal?
2)Can more than one effect be controlled by the expression pedal at the same time(ex.reverb and strobe)?
2)Can you make a short video showing this(reverb and strobe) if possible?
I really want a pedal for my sax that could do something like I described earlier and if this can do it I'll go get one.
