@LittlelisaC24 Thank you for your nice comments! You can also try contacting reputable breeders to see if they have any adults that they are looking to place. Some will place them for free or just have you cover the spay cost as long as they know they will be going to a good home. I've placed a few over the years this way. If coming from a good breeder most of these dogs are well socialized retired show dogs & adjust easily to their new homes. I have 2 at the moment that I am looking to place.

I love shiba's! They are a wonderful breed but they are stubborn. I would love to get one but i'm a student so I wouldn't be able to afford one. So my only option would be a rescue at the moment. I grew up with Akitas so a bigger version of Shibas with mostly the same personality.

Shibas can be stubborn, so sometimse challenging for some owners. Anyone in the NYC area? We will be at the Jacob Javitz Center (Nov. 19&20) for "Meet The Breeds" to educate on the Shiba breed, responsible dog ownership as well as have a rescue group joining us.

The most important thing is to fully research the breed & then decide from there if the breed holds the characteristics you are looking for in a companion. If you want a come when you call it kind of dog, like a lab, the independent (somewhat aloof) Shiba may not be your best choice. Too many ppl purchase because they like the Shibas look (w/o the research) only to -

@dereklmoore It costs a lot of money to breed dogs, you have care for the puppies and feed them when they're still in your care and that isn't cheap. And quality reputable breeders will plan litters months and even years in advance and take deposits before the dogs even mate so that they know the puppies won't be waiting forever to find homes.
