@videoofmike That Top Gear trubute was for Richard Burns, not Colin unfortunately. +1 for your comments about Top Gear needing to show the love for Rally Drivers in S.I.A.R.P.C though! Cheers
@lawnmowerpower if you ever would've listened to Block talk, you'd hear how he praises colin and always speaks about how he was his idol, so dont be so quick to judge. Your talking about a guy who just broke into the WRC versus a rally legend, and I believe Ken has the potential to become a modern day Colin in a couple years for sure. They are/were both extremely talented. Forever sideways - R.I.P. C. McRae

@tomikkkkk Because you'd stall the car. You lock up the back wheels, so if you didn't have the clutch depressed and the gear linkage was in place, the engine would stall.
@tomikkkkk it all depends how long you are going to keep the handbrake on,if you were doing a full handbrake turn then yes you would need to press in the clutch(so it wouldn't stall the engine) especially if you are doing it from a highish speed as you would want to go down the gears to select 1st gear to accelerate away, you wouldn't necessarily av to press clutch in if going at speed&just quickly using the handbrake to get the back end of the car out if you were wanting to drift/slide car
i know same here :'(....who ever got to ride with him before he died are some lucky people best rally driver that lived im sure hes tearin it up in the after life
Honestly.... props to that chick for not freaking out when he demonstrated the flick hehe. Most women's first reaction when the car is pointing left towards the edge of a cliff at 50mph , and the upcoming turn is a right, is to scream :P
I know I had to rewatch the video a couple times but for anybody else who had a hard time understanding the narration that starts at 0:30 it's -
"Here them bends are so tight you could never get the car around even on (sure luck)*, so you have to use the hand break which basically locks up the wheels of the car and the weight of the car will slow you round."
Just in case anybody else had a hard time with the accent =D otherwise 5/5 R.I.P Collin McRae...
@JMS444444 its a shame top gear never even gave mcrae a fucking tribute never mind a shot in the reasonably priced car. they rightly gave richard burns a great tribute but none for rally icon colin mcrae???? it didnt make sense. i personaly think it was because he wasnt english.
@DriftK13 THey made a short tribute to collin mc rae, they talked about how clarkson's son beats collin in video game and collin was frustrated and just kept on asking his kid to go over and play each day after school. I see your point tho, although as it looks hammond and may aren't really big fans of f1. They really should bring some rally driver to star in a reasonably priced car, maybe rally and touring car guys gets their own board:P

I drive a AWD Passat W8 wagon rally edition as my daily driver, and use the flick to take curved onramps at freeway speeds (not too easy in a 2 ton car) not to bad on tires though. Also the flick can be used to transition from high traction to low traction surfaces with a big speed decrease that would not be possible with the breaks alone.
Do not try this on public roads. I have a ticket for causing a crash after a cop hit a tree tying to keep up with me.
a missed point. in AWD cars on tarmac the Scandinavian Flick is still the best way to get the car to over steer into a corner. here you are trying to break grip on the rear to boost power distribution to the inside line.

Sequentially controlled semi-automatic gearbox. Hes using the clutch because its a handbrake turn and its AWD so you need to clutch to avoid damage to the drivetrain. Hope that helps
The clutch is only needed when starting off or to prevent stalling. You normally don't use it altho with older transmissions, it was faster to use the clutch when shifting up. If you kept the clutch in, it would be harder to turn and you would probably stall.
