Catholics though believed mary to be pure since she could not have given birth to jesus if she wasnt and we consider her a very important living friend in the body of christ, who we can ask to pray for us and our troubles.
Why do protestants believe we worship Mary? I mean that's heresy, and the perfect example of that would Collyridian group. These men and women believed that mary was actually a goddess and would offer up bread sacrifices to her on a golden alter in the front of the church.. now that is mary worship.
@RockyBalboa211 Catholics make the virgin Mary out to be a goddess by making her sinless, a dispenser of grace, and omnipresent! Those are characteristics of God alone. Catholics bow to her and pray to idols (necklaces and statues) that resemble her and they say she is a co-mediator between man and God along with Jesus which isn't biblical. She is not the mother of God. She is the mother according to the flesh not His divinity.
@RockyBalboa211 Mary is venerable and to venerate actually means "worthy of worship". There is only one way for man to be saved and that is faith in Jesus Christ alone. If you spend all your time talking about Mary, when do you get to Jesus? Where does it say that you should go to Mary in the scripture? It doesn't. The whole of the New Testament is to prove that Jesus is the Savior of the World. Mary is an ever-lasting detour even embraced by Muslims. So the pope kissed the Koran.
@courag1 Great comment! As a young Roman catholic I always prayed to Mary. She was the focus of our attention, not Christ. Thankfully, Christ saved me out of the lie.
@johnthreesixteen316 The false teaching makes my blood boil but it is because this ensnares some really good people who are sincerely trying to do the right thing. They long for the relationship with God which they are deprived of. If Catholics ask for God to show them the truth, He will. Even Protestants can doubt sometimes and the Lord will prove the truth to them. He loves us that much.
What is funny about this video is that the author has discovered that his religion is based on superstition and worship of the sun and stars yet he still believes in his religion. I do not understand how you can take the sugar off a shit sandwich and think it tastes better that way. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid you people are.
How can you call the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven, the Ark of the Covenant, the Cause of our Salvation, Our Most Holy Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, an "idol" and an "abomination"? It is true, I shall be judged and Ever-Blessed Mary, the Mother of Mercy, the Refuge of Sinners, the Gate of Heaven, the Help of Christians, Queen of Angels and Saints shall plead for my life before Her Divine Son. Mary is the ideal Christian, you would be wise to follow Her example instead of insulting Her.
The problem with the "venerate" / "worship" distinction is with the English language, not theology. "Worship" in English is not specific to God. British mayors and judges are called "Your Worship" but nobody thinks they are God. As NickBully pointed out earlier, the distinction is made in Greek between "latria" -- the worship of God -- and "dulia" -- the veneration of the saints. "Hyperdulia" was coined as the highest form of "dulia" reserved for the Blessed Virgin. Nobody thinks Mary is God
"Don't pray to dead people. Mary is in heaven" - You contradicted yourself, if Mary is in Heaven, she is not dead but more alive than you or I.
"Mary... is not a godess." - No Christian would say that she is. Glorification or divinization is *partaking* of the divine nature (which the Blessed Virgin does to the full possible extent) but it is not the same as *possessing* the divine nature. Those in Heaven are not Divine Persons, of course, but they are involved in the life of the Trinity.
You are right, you don't need anybody to pray for you, you can always pray for yourself. Yet the Bible teaches us time and time again to pray for one another.
"...pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much." - James 5:16
The prayers of the saints are presented as incense before God, as in Revelation 6:8 and 8:4. We have a "great cloud of witnesses over our head" (Heb 12:1) who pray for us
Funny that she´s bringing the ' Child ' in her lap, and the child is ' CHRIST ' and in Christ we are inducted into the Catholic Church and then Commune With the Only and True God. And that through Jesus, the real God - our ancestor´s attempt to reach the world in its entirety! - is had. And, that the earthly Church and the real after-life world are united as we had searched for through ages. It all being in Christ - for, it is His Church - > In HIM ALL LIVE OUT TO ALL DIMENSIONS OF LIFE.
Once we die, our mental, emotional, all being, crosses the dimensions of the end of times - > these physical realities are the place of our resurrection ( of our flesh = our whole being ) onto other dimensions, until we are in the dimension of God - > where it is all known, the future, past and it all. Then, also this is the final day, for we know it all and there´s no time anymore. From there, in Christ, as on the earthly Church, all we are reflected and reaches the full communion of Christ.
Already in the First Century - in Egypt, The Immaculate Conception was celebrated - Such is in Marco´s writings in that region. It is like, in Christ, everything is renewed: on earth, we can pray for one another and WE ALL DO - CATHOLICS AND PROTESTANTS - Catholics, out of being the true plentiful Church - > has the linking to heavenly Church - because Christ unites it all. It is a relationship made by Christ as our earthly family is. Not that they hear but in Christ their all is related to.
Mary is ' venerated ' - which in Catholic Tradition, means - > honoring; it does take a different word meaning, due to their realities. Mary - through Jesus´ Church as well as all saints can be reached in Him - as we ask for earthly brothers´ prayers and do have a mother on earth - Christ gives a heavenly mother and through His Church, Saint´s reaching - Apocalipse! ! All is in Him. As He´s given us an earthly family, he gives a heavenly one. He brings all that they are in Him in all.
Im would like to point out the meaning of venerate from its original origins. Venerate is taken into consideration from 2 Greek words, PROSCUNEO and LITREA the first meaning to Prostrate ones self in reverence to one in honor. This is a broad term used for Honor man(a King,Queen,Saint) or God. Litrea (idk how spell it in english) is the Greek word distinctly for Whorship, which is for God alone. So VENERATE from its original meaning can be used for Honor of both God or man.
I think it's funny as it is sad that Protestants who deride the Blessed Virgin do so with the excuse that it gives more glory to Jesus. Seriously, since when do you give honor to someone by insulting their Mother? In "True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin", St. Louis Marie de Montfort says that true devotion to Our Lady is a sign of predestination and contempt for Her is a sign of reprobation. Truly, these poor souls who insult Our Mother are reprobate and lost.
A lot of theological errors too and misconception. The true is Isis is not worship in the Catholic Church. Nor Mary is anywhere connected to this "pagan goddess." It would be like comparing Horus, the Egyptian God to Jesus. You can Youtube search Horus and Jesus, and they came up the conclusion that Christianity is pagan in origin.
mannyfit75: Thanks for your kind post. This video author's puerile and absurd stream of heretical attacks of the "whitened sepulcher" kind is familiar anti-Catholic hate speech. Isis is an Egyptian goddess, not a Babylonian goddess, has no connection to Mary other than they both had kids.
