It is true that many men do not address this with their doctor. I'm a 28 yr old male & have been suffering for more than 5 years. Within the past year I have been referred to: 3 Neurosurgeons, 1 Neurologist, 1 Rheumatologist, 1 Endocrinologist, & Pain Management doctors. I have had 5 MRI's (Brian, Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar, SI Joints), 3 Nerve Tests, Nuclear Bone Scan, ESI's, Trigger Point Injections, & MULTIPLE blood tests & all tests come back normal. (1of 2)
It has taken more than 1 year to have it placed in my medical records about Fibromyalgia, BUT .. I have not been diagnosed yet. My Rheumatologist stated that I have all the symptoms of Fibromyalgia, but she thinks it would be a good idea to get a second opinion because of the level of pain I exhibit & my age.
In reality I feel it was because I'm a male & she did not want to be liable if I were to be "misdiagnosed." (2 of 2)
I am a recovered fibromyalgic who left the care of medical profession to discover the cause and cure of this horrific condition, and I understand this condition from the inside and back out again. This is a good description of symptoms. Symptoms can often be mistaken for the cause, and treatments that help do not cure. Do not give up from failed hope. Keep going! See video:
