OH! Also I really rather skip cereal and go straight to homemade baby food. Did you give Griffin cereal at all at the beginning? And I'm kind of confused on how to make homemade baby cereal. Any ideas?
@betosrose No, didn't give Griffin cereal at all until he was past 1 year old. If you want to make your own, you buy organic brown rice and blend it raw in blender until it's a fine powderish consistency. Then you cook on stovetop with water or broth.
I have a quick question. Alex as 5 weeks early and his doctor wants us to start cereal at 4 months. He has physically caught up to babies his age already and is not showing signs of prematurity any more. But I'm still a bit worried. He is still very drooly but does make chewing movements with his mouth. I'm not sure if I should follow the Dr's instructions, or should I just give it another month...He turns 4 months on the 24th.
I started my little girl at 4m just on baby rice as she was pre trem ! And her weight did not Match her age ! ( she can sit up almost on her own with a little help , i have jought a high chair to help her to sit up on her own ! She loves loves dinner time ,Now she is 5m old and loving rice and fruit and some veg !
I started my son at 7months ensuring his tummy was ready. Sadly, allergic to a certain food group, but we've adjusted and he's a really good eater till this day!
@fattiecane It's best not to introduce milk until at least a year old and if you are still nursing, you don't necessary have to do at all. I actually just started giving Griffin a little coconut milk, around 2-3 oz. a day. I mix with a strawberry/banana puree for his breakfast like a mini smoothie. He loves it. Almond milk might be best to wait on since some babies have reactions to tree nuts. I'd also get unpasturized almonds which you have to special order and soak them for digestability
Thanks for the video. Really helpful. DD is breastfed and we had tried to start her on solid. Had looked at many websites and ticked all the boxes but dont know why its not happening yet. Thats a good point about drooling. Liberty is also a drooling machine. Wet her clothes and bibs all the time. She is 6 months now and drooling lesser. Hopefully its happening soon. fingers crossed!
@ladiematrix YES! The baby needs breastmilk or formula as his/her main source of nutrition through first year. Food is more for taste, texture and flavor exploration.
Greatt video! My little Sofia is 3.5 months old and dribbles quite alot, especially in the evening.I think I'll wait till 4-5 month, I'd like to try her first on avocado, as many foods on the market contain hidden sugars so that she can grow to enjoy move savoury tasting veg! The problem nowadays is that children get so used used to sugary foods that when you introduce vegetables they have a hard time adjusting. That is why I believe its important to start good eating habits as early as possible
@GirlPoppet I agree! The sweet tooth is rampant in the U.S. and globally really. I've been trying to do the veggies but he's not the biggest fan. I just keep trying though as I think they are an acquired taste :). I also mix most of his fruits with avocado to mellow out the sweetness.
My boy is 3 months old. Great video. That's a great point about the drooling. We are planning to start when he's ready basically. Hoping for 5-6 months old.
i love this videos like this bc it helps me get ideas on what to do with my baby and as a new mom i love the suggestions :) my son is 3 and 1/2 months but hes been teething since he was 2 months n 1 week so he grows fast hopefully ill now when any advice you can give please do! thanks :) -tiff
Peyton's Pedi. suggested "baby cereal" at 4 mo., but we learned rather quickly that it was too soon. So, we held off & then re-introduced at 6 months. And it was a much smoother transition at that time. Lee was 6 months old as well:)
