Ezra basically stoops to Godwin's Law, which says an argument/debate will eventually end up with one side comparing the other to Hitler.
Ezra compares May's views to "the woman-hating, child-abusing, horrible horrible people from 'those' countries" as if it is in any way relevant.
Hes playing the game of twisting facts to pinch at people's emotions. May, however, calmly presents research, facts, and rational thoughts rather than fear mongering.
This is the "neo-con" vs "leftist" battle; Levant's skewed (kernel of truth, spun into a complete misrepresentation) arguments offered to control people's emotions vs May's reason and logic offered to people's rational minds.
As Freud feared, on average, humanity's instinctual drives trump our thinking minds...who needs facts and data when you can prey on fears and other instincts.
@leddsaliva While I do agree that Ezra's sound bytes are more stump speech then substance, he does raise some very good points which are relevant when considering oil sources. His facts are questionable however, and would need further review. Elizabeth May clearly has presented some facts, however her credibility in arguing things like the economic effect on Canada is non-existent as her statements on productivity show her complete lack of understanding of even the most elementary economics.
Fascinating how Levant tries to goad her by putting words in her mouth or by twisting her statements; but she just corrects his mis-truths calmly, quoting facts and reports.
Why doesn't Liz tell the truth that she is an American and not the east Coast victim. She prattles on and goes off to 3 or 4 topics with no link to the question. That Oil was already there on the surface and we didn't cause the oil sands.
All MAy does is deflect, deflect, and deflect. Levant doesn't do a good job taking her to task for completing ignoring his points, as well as making blatant misrepresentations and lies (i.e. Canada becoming a "petro-state" and killing its democracy?!)
Ms May. Comparing ethical oil to ethical child labour is very weak. Oil is a good thing, you couldn't fly back and forth between Victoria, Ottawa and Copenhagen without fossil fuels. Child labour is illegal in this country.
Wow, this is like watching an intelligent, level-headed mother try to reason with a three-year old in mid-tantrum. I had really assumed Levant had given more thought to his position. You kind of felt of embarrassed for him watching it.
@garymichaelwilson If you drove to work today then your a total hypocrite. Ezra puts the green party/greenpeace/any hippie spewing a bunch of BS to shame.
Ezra looked like a douchbag mouthpiece for big oil! As usual!
