  • Great video, my dad used to drive one of these, and a JCB 428 compactor. Nice :-)

  • In our landfill we have had both Cat and Bomag. The Bomag is a much better machine, in every way.

  • I've been working at a dry waste landfill in Alberta for 10 years now,we had a 1998 836 packer and it burnt to the ground because of dust and paper, then we got a 1988 836 and it has caught on fire but was saved. The cat packers always overheat and need daily washing.I love Cat but they don't make a good Landfill packer.

  • First machine i drived

  • @KoralieMegan drove or i've driven

  • This is real life's biggest problem. Trash has been around for centuries. Nothing can reverse the process of trash. Ultimately everything becomes useless and disorganizes. That is the law of life, entropy, everything goes only one way and one way only. We can try to slow the process down but ultimately everything winds up as this seen here. It will only get worse as our population inceases and results in more consumption resulting in more waste and trash. Nothing helps. Our world is degrading.

  • I drove one of these for years .A demolition landfill though so we only got muck rubble and scrap.I thought it was great fun Now and then a caravan or small building would come in and this machine would turn it to matchsticks .Like being a big kid with a big toy.

  • ive never seen anything more depressing in my life.

  • you mean to say you dont look at your own channel? lol

  • thats sweet of you, thanks.

  • @retsmah24 my pleasure

  • @retsmah24 all i can see is money

  • excellent work!

  • Amazing machines ! How many hours do they normally run before they eventually expire?

  • billions of tonnes of waste must go to land fill every year

  • We used to have a Cat compactor at our local landfill site, Then they bought a good second hand one of this Bomag compactor. Now the Cat is left rusting in a corner unused and unloved. It's always fun going to ours when it's been raining. There is so much mud and you see trucks wheelspinning and getting stuck. I just drive straight out no problem in my Massey Ferguson 135 with trailer.

Do you work at this site pixmafia.

  • Anyone know what the model number is for this Bomag? From what I've heard the Bomags were in the same class as the later CAT machines.

  • the model number is the BC 772

  • Cats are the way to go

  • I haul those they weigh roughly 135,000lbs. and needs 4 trucks to haul.

  • how about a shift on a jcb 428,or even worse an international 175c.

  • bad are they?

  • Thanks for the earlier reply concerning the model number of the Bomag. To answer your question, the JCB 428, and for that matter the Volvo 4400C compactors were unreliable because they were modified wheel loader designs not built for the landfill environment - you really need custom-built machines for that kind of industry. The same can be said for the Cat 936 and 518 compactors too.

  • yeah i had heard that because of the designs based on a loading shovel and the mechanical drive system there were too many gaps in the cats and you got a build up of paper and dust around the engine, which on a hot machine is not helpful :o)

  • oh no!! the old bomag!! i hated those things i like the 836 g or 836h cats oh yea!!!

  • the bomags are ok, cabs are crap but from what ive heard about the cats catching fire due to paper and dust being able to get into the mechanical drive, i will stick to bomags :o)
