  • in Eskrima you can use your finger!

  • i really love eskrima

  • Interesting--they mispronounce Pekiti Tirsia and then they call it Escrima, even though they have Grand Tuhon Gaje on the show and he has asked that no one calls it that.

  • hmm, the defender has to make 3 moves while the attacker throws one punch. you have to be way faster than your opponent for this to work.

  • @mrkiky It is true that you have to be quick, but the purpose of controlling the elbow is to prevent the opponent from returning the arm to guard position and delivering a new attack. This'll buy you some time. Furthermore, should your opponent attack you with his other hand before you manage to strike his head after the elbow strike, you can use the same hack motion to guard yourself while evading the attack. You have to learn how your moves might be countered and how to react to these counters

  • @Psilosiini yea but there's still 2 move till you get to the elbow grab, while the attacker only has to retract his arm....I tried to do this in sparring but with no success. Every time he would've retracted his arm before I could grab it.

  • @mrkiky In my opinion the way the technique is shown on this vid is kinda weird. I've been taught do the beginning in one motion so that both of your hands reach the guys arm simultaneously or to only raise the arm closer to the opponent and go straight for the grab with the other.

It's also worth noticing that the instructor actually does this on a retracted arm in the beginning of the video. That's how I was first introduced to this entry. Difficult as a combo, but useful as a concept.

  • @Psilosiini its possible they may have done it for show purposes, or to make it easier for the Americans. I practice PTK and we are taught it the same way as you described

  • @mrkiky And I have to agree with you that there are a lot of better entries against a straight punch. For this technique, I prefer the version used pre-emptively (while the arm is retracted).

  • @mrkiky In the end, it's all just tools. Not an ultimate battle plan. (Sorry for sticking my nose into an old comment, by the way. It just caught my eye)

  • dapat pag aralan nyo paano nyo iligan ang itak ng abu sayyaf, hindi yang eskrima na yan...

  • A kick to the balls is much easier and quicker lol

  • i love eskrima,

  • I wanna learn some eskrima and apply it to a retractable baton =D My dad said he might get me one for christmas =)

  • I loves Escrima. I love how Stargate Atlantis incorpated it into the show by having Teyla being a Master of Bantos.

  • have you got no idea that ESKRIMA IS AN ANCIENT MARTIAL ARTS OF FIGHTING? THERS AN OLD SAYING FOLKS THAT PHILIPPINES IS DA REMNANTS OF ANCIENT CONTINENT MU

  • it is palamut

at 0:30 u can see that

  • Me recuerda un poco a JKD... Thanx!!!!!

  • sorry, my spanish is a bit rusty. dan inosanto estudio con bruce lee. lee incorporo muchos conceptos de kali/escrima/arnis a su jkd.

  • jeeez so many martial artists live in a dream world! it would have 2b a really slow jab 4it 2b blocked. haha i got no worries there as my jabs r lightning fast n my jabs will be followed through with some kind of combination!

  • no they dont, the neurones in your brain will affect reaction times if you do it slow then speed up.

  • that wasnt a jab;(

  • actually u are correct..itwasnt a jab, its a right cross.

  • very amusing...please post more on the marines training :).

  • Yeah, go ahead and give me poor ratings for merely pointing out that the only martial art exclusively used by the Filipino Force Recon Marine Corps is pekiti tersia

You MMA twits make me laugh sometimes

  • pekiti tersia isn't bullshido kids. perhaps you'd like to take a shot at that filipino marine to see how full of "bullshido" he is? naah, I wouldn't either

  • Youre a really shit filipino for looking down on your own armed forces;(

  • wow awesome love it..

    thanks for the upload

  • What makes Eskrima effective is its simplicity. Although the moves are simple, these moves are executed fast, clean, and deadly!

  • yeah you're right man
