The VLS on Chinese 052C has only a capacity of 48 HH9 missle, while Japanese DDG174 and her sister ships have at least 64 SM-2. DDG174 has a load displacement up to 9000T while 052C is only somewhere around 7000T. Even if u argue that the radar system on 052C is AESA(which is not proved). there is no evidence shows that 052C can see better then DDG174 or ARLEIGH BURKE

China is not comparing herself with the U.S . The U.S is the largest trading partner to China. China has enough military strength to defend herself. China is capable of building modern military equipment. She doesn't want to spend too much money in military. because military is not a very profitable business. She like it just the way it is now.
