Leveling a Charger nowaday it's really easy. I'd advice 0 lerp to do it (for me it's the perfect lerp). Aim to the head, when you are about to melee, press W at the same time. Works perfect for me. Nice video and yes, you really look like a Valve employee.

@Fardus1 Don't bother with the crowbar thats pretty hard, though the katana is pretty easy. The trick is to hit really early, so early that you think your're going to miss. Also look over your rates and make sure you have the optimal lerp.

@RockTilDead your friends can't join a listen server, as soon as it's multiplayer you can't enable sv_cheats 1. However you can setup a dedicated server from your own computer, there is some good video turtorials you can follow, however it takes time to download the server data(it's like installing the game again). When you've set up the server you need to install metamod and sourcemod on it and there's some plugins for sourcemod that can surpass the sv_cheats restriction. "adminscheats.smx".

I actually was able to do this against the first charger I ever encountered (I know because I picked up the achievement for killing it while it's charging with a melee weapon). At the time it just looked like a tank to me and I didn't have any ammo for my primary so I just started swinging when it charged at me. Can't remember exactly which melee weapon I had, but it was probably a crowbar or the Fireaxe since I was in the second part of Dead Center.

Have you noticed "butt headshots" in L4D2? When you kill hunters, jokeys by pushing them back - but only with 1 push, not 4. And they must be jumped, etc atacking you. May be its glitch, dont know.

forgot to mention in last post. i'm not sure this works when your boomered or when common infected are on you. I might be wrong but I thought they may get in the way of chargers hitboxes, horde damage impedes your aim for melee. since i got new pc i would try this out but not setup yet (will soon), so using 360 for now.

btw can you one hit kill jockeys. i find them harder to melee because i find you have to constantly adjust your aim (when his jumping and when he's not)

Second of all, I wasn't thinking about the noob unlockable weapons. I was thinking about the default TF2 weapons before the horrible updates.

If you include the noob unlockable weapons, here is the list:

Sniper Rifle, Huntsman and Ambassador.

The Pyro's flamethrower can also reflect Huntsman arrows to score a headshot.

@TwoGunnedTony Tf2 uses a really popular and easy swep engine. The melee weapons on tf2 don't actually swing to attack, it shows an animation on your screen and there's an area in front of your character that can cause damage, it's a lot simpler that way too lol

does these tactics apply when you try to side melee a charger? (i can get the hit in , but not the kill) or are the hitboxes directly in front of him making it difficut to one-hit kill from the side

His head is in front of him yes, but as you can see on the first charger stop @ 0:02, I'm leveling him from the side, so it is possible. At least on that side of the charger. On the other side of the charger there's the issue of the big arm hitbox, so it might be very hard to hit his head first.
