Hey stupid oakcfloyd, so in the hell care if you have a 1000 watt amp, this is not about who's system came beat who you stupid bloody fool!
I own a Pioneer SA-9500II with 80 strong watts of power...! That's all I'll ever need. I also own a 32 channel mixing board in my bedroom which takes about half the room size to fit it in, plus other goodies to go along with that!
im thingking of getting some red dawn interconnects for my cyrus 8se cdp. cyrus 8vs2 amp. do they make the treble more detailed? and is bass more full?.
@TheSoulboy10 no think im going to buy chord antham 2 witch works very well with the cyrus dynaudio combo. have you done any changes to your hifi and if you have do another vid look forword to your responce.
Not bad. But for the money u spent, honestly; my soundcraftsmen rack and HD880's blows this away!..........mix that with my 160 Super.........sorry. Mine will blow this. Dont mean 2 diss, but come on!
Bridged @ 4ohms im running 1000 watts.RMS on old azz 1970 Marantz!!!!.....beat that!!
No........doesnt make feel any better. Believe me, back in the day i used to have all the high end shit, like tanberg , Mac, Crell, Carey........etc. And as i got older, I asked myself why? They all sounded kick ass, but for the money i was going trough just wasnt logical. So....sold everything(made a shitload) and studied very long and hard on the "best for less". Soundcraftsmen and marantz and then the 160 Super.still some jing, but a hell of alot cheaper, and can definently blow my roof off!!
I've been very bad, I've sold the Quads and bought a Leak Stereo 20 poweramp and a passive preamp. Soon I'll be setting up some Lowther speakers to go with the Leak.
I'm very happy with my Xerxes, plus I've sold the Rega R200 and got a Nima tonearm and an Ortofon 2M Black cartridge. I can't wait to hear the Nima!!
And yeah, I really do miss the Quad amps. Sometimes I feel like selling the Leak and just getting a nice integrated amp, like a Leben or a Papworth.
Yes it makes a very nice combination, very dynamic and musical. My TDL speakers also goes very well with the Quad 405 amp, as they have good slam and power to push the TDL.
Next I want to send my Quad 405 to Net Audio for a full MK3 upgrade, or what ever you call it.
Also I will love to try a pair of Bookshelf speakers, something that has nice midrange and speed. I think my answer to that will be the Mordaunt Short MS30i speakers. But they don't come up very often.
Roksans' Xerxes is my dream deck though, for sure! It's gorgeous!

Your system is very beautiful... I absolutely adore ALL of Quad's products. Superb sound.
I took the long way round, sadly. I have what many may call the low end of the high-end.
Luxman C&M-02 Amps, Crown CE-1000, Carver ZR-1600, ESO Plug Club Mixer, Technics SL-1210s, Adcom GCD-575 & GFT-555 FM, Tsacam MD-350 Minidisc Digital Recorder
DBX 120x & 166XL, and VMPS Larger Sub, and Paradigm Studio Monitors. I kinda went ovrkill on the bass. I'm a not so closet bass-aholic!

I now have a Townshend Rock Reference turntable. Close to a master tape you will ever get. And it goes bloody great with my system.
I find the thorens 160 to be far too coloured and a little artificial sounding for my liking mate.
And OK, your system is better. Does that make you feel better?
All the best,
Shane.

I have a Roksan Xerxes, i was told it sounds better with the plinth cover and surround removed ....and it does!
mystic4fred 2 years ago
Cool must tell my father that, as he has an Xerxes too.
Do you also remove the outer spindle after placing your record? That's what I do.
Cheers.
