New line cinema should have followed LOTR and shot all 3 films at once. They'll either have to get a new Lyra, or have a 17-18 year old Lyra in The Amber Spyglass. That's just silly. Personally, I think His Dark Materials is an amazing story, but it won't translate well to screen. Hope I'm wrong, but I usually get these things right.

I don't agree... there's far more depth in these than in Harry Potter... I'd say the HDM books are adult's books that children can enjoy too, rather than the other way round. There was loads of speculation about Daniel Radcliffe losing his role as Harry Potter because he's to old, so i'm sure they will do the same for this series of films, which, judging by the books, is bound to be superior to HP. Besides, Lyra was supposed to be 13 in the last book and Dakota is already 13, so i don't think the age will matter as much now.
