  • A W E S O M E

  • it is so hard for me to not hit the snare beat with my thumb.i am preprogrammed from acousic gitar.

  • Chuck Rainey = Bass god

  • Yeah! thanks for reminding me that Stepping into tomorrow has one of the dopest riffs ever!!!

For this track,Think twice and Makin' it,it remains one of my fave 70's records(btw there's Black&Blues by Bobbi Humphrey that has the same line up) If you don't know it,you gotta check Madlib's remix of Steppin,it's 2 times longer & has an upfront drum&bass mix(you can really hear what Harvey&Chuck playing,it's awesome!) Peace.

  • sweet, very sweet thanks

  • @ProLit no it doesnt. In Rainey style playing you play a little behind the beat.

  • Your good. Keep it up. And stay away from all that "slap bass crap ".

  • can you tab this out for me?

  • it sounds like sesame street

  • damn those are nice...and is that a yamaha F325 in the back? i have one of those to! lol

  • nice ... these grooves sound really good

  • Yeah, these bass lines are great, but they are grooves, not riffs.

  • Sorry.. I didn't check the info. haha.

'Stepping Into Tomorrow' , wicked Jam...

  • What's that last bass line from? Its on the tip of my tongue.. Nice playing.

  • U.S FENDER!

  • tabs?

  • is your bass really small or are you really gigantic? the bass looks like a toy.

  • big hands, and the bass isn't huge either...

  • yeah when I get a bass of my own (jammin on a friend's for now) Its going to be semi smal, but thats until i can actually groove a little more.

  • You'd be better off to adopt those as your own and just say they are Rainey inspired instead.

    Keep groovin dude

  • nice tone..

  • Great sound, great feel. I dream of jamming with bass players like you.....

  • the perfect sound

  • make them into tabs

  • Yawn. Chuck Rainey never played like that.

  • very cool, chuck is my idol along with james jamerson!! I love guys that flat out groove, what year is the jazz bass?

  • Thanks - it's a 73 with active EMG pickups

  • Street Lady -- Keep that thumb behind the neck!

Stepping Into Tomorrow -- Keep that wrist straight!

    Plucking technique looks good.

  • LOL - thanks! Gonna try to keep that thumb back there!

  • THANK YOU. All that stuff these new school bass players (wont say names) doing doesnt mean ANYTHING. Sure they are widening the range of the instruments possiblities but it all comes back to your musicality in a GROOVE. Aye but jamersonshook on stepping into tommorrow you just have to hit some of the beats with more emphasis.. other than that it was great.

  • Good sound and time. Keep it up. You are well on your way to groove meisterdom.

That "Dominoes" bass lines ain't no joke! Rainey is one of my all time faves on bass along with Jamerson. Their tracks are such a treat.

  • Thanks! He's one hell of a bassplayer - his website shows how much all the top artists love the guy....he's one of the busiest and best session players of all time.

  • Hi - Fender Jazz bass, no amp on this, the drum loop is from a CD a friend made up for me.

  • hi... whats your bass made of? and amp? what do you use to make the drumbox sound?

    good riff
