Can you buy "parts" to dress up your SKS like this? I got a few SKS but not honor guard but I like to make USSR SKS become one. I lived in Arizona,USA. Do you think I will bring to machine shop and tell them to Iodine .001 to the area you want to "shine"? Is that legal to do? Thanks for infos

I've shotten an sks and they really need supressors......they are so god damn loud its like your in epileptic shock for 2 seconds,,,and the russian versions sights are really bad...but my uncle pput a custom red dot.....but a very effective gun.

how do you have such a bad camera? do you use a phone? what i really suggest you use is if you dont have the money and want quality and you are one to record with a small device, get a new ipod nano, they record really high quality video for like 130 dollars its defenantly alot better than that piece of stool you were using in this video.

dont sks' have free floating firing pins whats the advantage to that compared to a sping loaded pin

@MrFalloutdude The Yugo SKS has a floating firing pin. The Russian has a spring loaded which is better. Reason is a floating firing pin can become dirty to the point that it sticks forward when the hammer strikes causing what is know as full auto "slam firing" as the bolt closes on the next semi auto loaded round. (rare but it happens) There is a gun smith who makes improved firing pins and springs for the Yugo, info available on SKS forums.

@solidfreak123 Not intentionally. They're all semi-auto rifles, but when some parts get worn or extremely dirty, some SKS rifles have been known to slamfire. You'll just be firing a string and all of a sudden the gun would go nuts and empty the mag.

They are very close to the same thing.. the AK has a removable mag, and cost a bit more

I've known people with that have an SKS and they say there is no difference but those who have an AK say "there sure as hell is"... just like to hear opinions and of course everyone's opinion conflicts with the other... opinions are like assholes, everybody's gotta have one but the difference is I don't hear about anyone else's asshole. my opinion, the SKS was great for the 2 years of it's service before the AK went into production... you could argue that an SKS is more accurate because of the longer barrel, but i suppose you could probably find a barrel of similar length for an AK and instal it.

the SKS is a semiauto rifle, while an AK is a selective fire assault rifle.

from my exp with a yugo SKS and AK, AK is better, aside from the assault properties, for the better sight picture, at least with stock sights

and also the detachable mag can be used as a improvized horizontal grip to hold the gun tighter to yourself and therefor have a steadier aim...

for hunting, both an SKS and a hunting styled AK are practically the same, the ak maybe easier to reload... and an AK is more likely to have the side rail for scope mounting, which is not a feature i'm that familiar of on a SKS.

NORINCO chinese models have a chrome lined barrel and are exceptionaly well made for a commie gun. russian design sks were flooding gun markets after the fall of the iron curtain ,but those amourys are long since emptied.
