I water my trees often. At least every three days. If your trees are surviving the winter and then dying, check to see if a critter is eating the bark on the tree. The bark seems to be very attractive to the critters and this will do them in. Also, consider that fig trees do not like heavy manure composting. Rather they like a little lime!
I agree brother. When I was little I used to climb our fig tree in the backyard and eat the figs right off. I just bought one recently so I'll be experiencing that again
