lol, 2 weeks ago I found 4 to be the best, completely forgot that I already saw this video already, helpful when watching movies ;) they never get boring ^^ anyways, differences are negligible I guess...you can do nice acid with all of them, except the DA conversion you would need for the abl to use some nice analog effects
Yep. The difference is clear as day. I recognized the 303 right away. It has more that "end note twitchyness" or how I should say it, and it also goes deeper in those twitches whereas all those others sound shallow, straight forward, monotonous and as plain as digital sound can sound.
Forgot to mention, your drum and bassline sequence reminds me of "Box Energy" by DJ Pierre from the Chicago acid-house days. Well done!
And speaking of sequences, I've considered selling my 303 several times just because the sequencer interface is so awkward and stupidly designed. It's still the best way to spend 20 minutes on one pattern and get happy accidents, though.
This was actually helpful, imo. The Roland seems to have the aforementioned advantage in 'liquidity' or squelch, and more envelope activity in the amp, but they are all otherwise very similar.
The Up transpose on the Roland's square waveform would likely reveal quite a different timbre.
I think Audiorealism is actually a bit fatter, but not necessarily more Bassy. There's a mod to make stock 303's even Bassier at low resonance by replacing two capacitors.
Most interrsant part of this video for me is between 0:57 and 1:12. Clearly the Roland is a "BASS" instrument. More punchy than the ABL. Yes, the sound is well emulated in the software BUT the musical function is not reached. My opinion.
HAHA! EXACTLY, MAN!! EXACTLY!! The difference usually is so small that human ear cant even hear it and here we have some 2bit 8000Hz pink noise sheetQ... idd:)
Isn't it kinda funny how when reading about music technology people will always tell you how this technology is better than that and how you couldn't possibly be thinking of making pro music with only that, then when people acctually make an A/B comparison then people start to whine. There shoudn't be no drums, qcuality is to low and so on. It really says something about what tools you ACCTUALLY need to make pro music. How do you think you will be able to spot the real thing in an actual mix

lol i immediately thought channel 4 sounded best, but followed closely by channel 5!

I'll admit, I thought the ABL channel was the real 303, as it seemed to be the squidgiest.

It's a Soundcraft Series 200B, the one with two sweepable EQ's per channel. Lovely mixer!
