Right you are... It is not the Talking Heads. Ronna Cohen on bass, Scott Garrison on guitar and me Rex Taylor Smith on drums. Our proverbial '15 minutes' came 20 years ago in Dallas when Mr. Byrne cast us as the band for the movie and video shoot. It seems the real Heads were busy with Tom Tom Club and unavailable.

this was a VERY telling video, and I am surprised that it was made into a video for mass consumption, based on one of the key themes here...I will break down a few points for you to ponder.

I don't know when True Stories was released in 1986, but I remember one of the intros on MTV's Top 20 Video Countdown to the music video version. He introduced it as coming out 'just in time for Halloween, with people dressing up as Billy Idol, Tina Turner, Kid Creole, Prince, Meatloaf, and David Byrne...oh wait, that is David Byrne in this one. At #.. on our list, it's the Talking Heads with Wild Wild Life.'

Most of the characters in both versions are impersonations of famous people in 1986.

The Movie is from 1986. A year before John Goodman was in Raising Arizona. Two years before Roseanne. He had already been in Revenge of the Nerds and Sweet Dreams with Jessica Lange by then. He was three years away from his role in Always and four years from Arachnophobia. I think this film and Raising Arizona were his break through roles besides Revenge of the Nerds.
