Babies stand when they're ready, my 4 month old has just started doing this as well. The uploader is not a bad parent, the baby is clearly happy and they do have the odd fall. One day the baby will start walking - will the uploader be a bad parent then if the baby falls trying to take a step - NO WAY! PS it being bad for a baby to stand at a young age is an old wives tale.
my daughter is almost 11 months old and she has fallen idk how many times and has hit her head and has had bruses from it and she is perfectly fine!!! thats how they learn if they fall down they learn to get up how else do you learn? and brendanmeirs123 you are the dumb bitch for saying that!!! like really!!! :) and by the way your baby is soo cute and talented!!!
The you are in for a big disappointment dude. I suppose they should get a trophy for losing too? Just take your kids to the drum circle and leave Youtube to the normal folks.
@bbmarcon I feel better knowing that nothing is ever going to happen to any of your children because you are going to remain glued to them for the rest of your life. Thanks for your dedication.
this is cute, people are just salty because their 4 month olds dont even know how to crawl lol. oh and @tahlianate i think you are an idiot! do you realize that all babies grow at different rates, and are all different shapes and sizes? My 2 year old niece is as tall as my 4 year old sister. youre just an idiot for comparing the size of your child to hers, just because you dont believe a four month old can stand for a few seconds?
It really shouldn´t stand in this age. That´s a fact! Every doctor would agree. Children really should decide on their own when to stand up and you shouldnt make a child stand up ´cause that will cause problems later. No matter if they seem to enjoy it or not.
His poor little feet and ankles were probably hurting.. And not only that, I bet he got really bold legged. Its fine that you're wanting him to walk and stand but try waiting until he's at least 6 months of age. His little bones are still soft and fragile at that age which gets them bold legged.. SMH
Poor baby. When teaching them to sit unaided you surround them by cushions as to protect them and their heads if they fall. Take precautions at least. It was so obvious he was going to fall, given his age and how wobbly he is so I don't know why you weren't prepared to prevent it. That hit to his head was totally unneccessary.
my son is three months and he wants to walk. some babys arnt strong enough and i think its a judgment call. but people need to relax this kid is very strong and well developed. as for broken bones. young babys gave hollow bones thus harder to break...
It's amazing how babies are able to do so much at such an early age when given the chance. There's a vid of an hours old baby holding her head up/looking around. Some people tend to do nothing but hold their babies or leave them in bouncers, swings, etc., w/o allowing them any chance to develop skills. One of my friend's has a daughter who was walking totally unassisted at eight months because she allowed her baby to explore... to get to know her own abilities.
A lot of you complaining about how the baby fell (and was perfectly fine and didn't even cry), probably either don't have kids/aren't around kids, or your kids are going to dislike you and your overprotective ways. You can't protect them from every bump or bruise! And this a good mom, it's not like she left him there when he fell.
so wat he fell my son fell all the time when he was learning how to walk and stand on his own even with me right there. thats how kids learn, by falling and picking themselves back up. plus its not like she didnt pick the baby up right away
@heybuddyalicia Yes, and in my opinion, when she grabbed the baby, she seemed concerned. Some people just think babies are supposed to be held 24/7 and never get dirty, fall, crawl or walk before the "experts" say. Sheesh! A classmate's mother and my mother were good friends and when my classmate was a toddler, she was only allowed to sit on a blanket on the ground to get fresh air, as she might get dirty, get a scratch, etc by playing. This girls had major issues as a teen.
At only 4 months old I wouldn't be pushing my baby so much to stand like this. Yes, babies will fall and that is how they learn but at 4 months it is way too young to be pressuring a baby into the physical demands of standing. They learn to crawl and sit before standing and walking for a reason!!!
Wow, why are people so rude. The baby was standing and fell. It happens. It's not like the baby got knocked unconscious, or fell down a flight of stairs. Babies are very resilent and him falling probably didn't even phase him (he didn't cry). Jeez people, lay off.
Yes, this is normal as long as he stands up by himself, not with your help, standing him up like a doll... Babies should achieve sitting up, standing up, walking, etc by themselves, not with the "help" of "ambitious" parents...
such a young baby hasn`t the physical ability to stand on there own.stimulating is good of course, but this is only risking damege in bones and muscles.
My son was standing like this at a little over a month old. All he wants to do it stand and stand and stand!! He walks around in his walkers all day! He's only 6 months old now but figure he will walk before he crawls. Lol
@RhIaNlUvZyOu157 yes and no. all she needed was a little prop for balance. her legs were definitely strong enough since before birth. (she practiced by kicking & pushing in the womb--ask me how i know! lol)
All babies are different. My baby is 4 months right now and has enough strength to stand already. Whenever we hold him he tries to crawl up our chests! She isn't a bad mom because her baby fell down - babies do that. How many times have we all fallen when we were growing up. The baby didn't hurt himself, he didn't even cry. Don't judge someone because you don't approve of what they're doing. That baby is clearly loved and well taken care of. <3
My daughter could lock her knees and stand on my lap for a few seconds (holding onto my fingers) as a newborn and never lost the ability, although she refused to walk until she was 14 months. My son could roll around on the floor as a newborn. Maybe I've just got odd kids.
I've seen a five month old walking round the furniture in my Dr's waiting room. Incredible, he was sooo tiny.
MY daughter is 6 months old and I'm guessing she could prob stand but I'm going to let her do it herself to make sure she's strong enough on her own. Cute video though.
My daughter (her pediatrician was amazed) at a month old was holding her head up, rolling from her stomach to her back, and trying to prop herself up on her arms. Now at three months old she is trying to sit on her own and stand she's even trying to motor around on her back by pushing with her legs. I can totally believe he's able to stand at four months babies are just amazing!
@Latschana123 its not because yours cant stand at 4 month that all the baby cant stand.you should know that some baby do stuff that isnt suppose too for they age but they do it anyway.and it sure not only bcause there parents teach them too they often do it by their own.and you should know that its in their nature to walk.at birth they got the walk reflex.you should know that coz you seems to know a lot.
Here i'll give you a tip of what I do with my 4 month old son......Just have really near by you with your arms ready just in cast he falls. I do that with my 4 month old as well. Or hold him hands while ur doing that.
i think ur a bit crazy letting that baby go and letting the baby fall. stupid done really. i have 3 children and watch them closely so i minimize any hurt. i dont want my children to get hurt. so make a new video when you have your hands preepeared next time. sorry if i make you amgry but i think its important to hold an infant safe.
I heard someone once say " You gotta crawl befor you walk " I know he was just standing but doesnt a baby have to develope leg muscles that develope during the crawling stage or is that just a myth.....?????
@narfcucci its a myth. They say babies need to crawl first because something in the brain develops when they crawl actually helping them read better later on in life. not sure if that is true, but plenty of babies including mine hates tummy time and therefore walk before they crawl.
@lovins88 omg my daughter hated tummy timealso she would take the biggest fits ever lol but she learned to crawl before walking though but she would stand before she learned how to crawl funny how babies develop
Don't you just love all the youtube users who suddenly become doctors and child development experts. They probably don't even have kids. Cute little boy, he was loving standing up :).
@cjoerger That was kinda stupid to say ..... smg28star...you do not know anything about the growth of the human infant. How many children do you have and what makes you an expert! ..... Shouldn't you have asked how many children i've raised FIRST? Lmao. 4 would be the answer .... Soooooo ..... ? N u know, i was really just trying to let em know it's not a great idea, yeah, maybe their baby will be fine but maybe they won't, baby bones are still SOFTER than our own, understand now??
I'm very impressed!!! And to all the haters, all babies are gonna fall, and get bumps and bruises. That's just a part of life. It's how they learn. I'm a very nervous mommy, my 6 month old daughter means the world to me, but I'm not going to make her miss out on experiences, just because she might fall! This Mommy must be doing something right, cause that was one happy baby! :)
@cjoerger you shouldnt let your baby bare there wieght by standing them up it is bad for there spine development. babies should bare wieght when there are independently able to pull themselves up on furniture ect.
Babies fall, yes, that's true, but....why would you let your baby fall on his head that hard at that age just to put a video on you tube!? sorry,i dislike your video.
baby just sliiped on knees like all babies would do in that situation...not face. critical idiots. my son has liked standing from day 1 and often stops him crying when he's upset.
Not really the best idea, that baby is at a stage when it should by learning rolling and getting up to crawl, as well as experiencing with vocals (as he was) Young babies need to learn in a specific natural sequence which gives them the skills for the next stage of their development.
that is cute..my older first son.when he was 4 months he will stand still and stay for a couple of minutes. he walked at 9 months . it does help them to get the legs strong. sorry he felt..but its ok .
oh my god people. babys fall. if they dont they will never learn anything. man people are so critical, you people are the ones who should be ashamed. to the one that posted the video, u got a tough little cookie on your hands, have fun and good luck.
my daughter is 3 months and has been able to do that too, but i have my hands very close to her incase she might fall like yours. don't do the standing for to long, it can cause problems with their hips later on in life
From experience, of course that baby was gonna fall. No good excuse for not catching him. Sorry to rain on your parade. I'm sure you love him/her very much.
have you noticed how everyone tries to make out their baby is the best? my son did some things early some late .. he didnt crawl till 7 months but he walked at 10 months .. he could hold his on weight since he as maybe 6-7 weeks old its all he ever wanted to do .. he didnt stand by himself till 9 months .. and ur baby is leaning on the couch .. thats why when he leaned off it he fell! you shouldve had pillows either side of him just to be safe ..
see how he develops! ankles, knees, hips, back. development takes time. no child of two months can bear their full body weight! did u let go? also he is standing against the couch.
actually its very common for almost all babies to be bow-legged at one point in time! my daughter was walking at 9 months and one of her legs bowed out but as her legs got stronger it straightened! im not saying some babies dont have problems because of it, im just saying its common when they learn to stand and walk:)
" The other big question parents often have concerns the safety of allowing younger infants to stand up with support and bear weight on their legs. Most younger infants are able to do this between 2 and 4 1/2 months, and no, it won't cause them to have bow-legs."
lol TOO CUTE! My son has been able to bear his weight on his legs since two months old. At three an four months he got head and torso balance. It doesn't make me a bad parent to let him stand (his favorite thing) All bodies develop differently ppl
whats his name????? he is soooo cute and beautiful love how he squeals and the falls over.....thats a kodak moment....you should make a funn video of your baby and send it to funny home videos!!!!!!!!!!
You shouldnt let babies try to stand too early, their bones are very strong, and can cause bowing of the leg bones. I know cause it happened to me. But cute baby :)

how clever baby could of been really hurt maybe catch him next time!!!!
thesazzjazz 1 year ago 2
Not really the best idea, that baby is at a stage when it should by learning rolling and getting up to crawl, as well as experiencing with vocals (as he was) Young babies need to learn in a specific natural sequence which gives them the skills for the next stage of their development.

karisatia0 1 year ago
my daughter is 3 months and has been able to do that too, but i have my hands very close to her incase she might fall like yours. don't do the standing for to long, it can cause problems with their hips later on in life
wolfyof2010 1 year ago
Oops! LOL, what a cutie! Sometimes they will just collapse, love his random screams, my daughter is doing the same thing, have fun!!

From experience, of course that baby was gonna fall. No good excuse for not catching him. Sorry to rain on your parade. I'm sure you love him/her very much.

He is still doing great and it's cool to see. You don't know a thing about being a proud parent, I see.

have you noticed how everyone tries to make out their baby is the best? my son did some things early some late .. he didnt crawl till 7 months but he walked at 10 months .. he could hold his on weight since he as maybe 6-7 weeks old its all he ever wanted to do .. he didnt stand by himself till 9 months .. and ur baby is leaning on the couch .. thats why when he leaned off it he fell! you shouldve had pillows either side of him just to be safe ..
dawngalloper12 2 years ago
my 4 month old does that too...since he was 2 months actually much to my husbands amusement .....cute baby by the way!!
amcooper81 2 years ago
that is normal at that age
panhandleFL 2 years ago
see how he develops! ankles, knees, hips, back. development takes time. no child of two months can bear their full body weight! did u let go? also he is standing against the couch.
ThePauleeny 2 years ago
I have to agree. I've always heard from not just parents but doctors that it can cause bowed legs and misalignment in the spine.
jstalilred 2 years ago
actually its very common for almost all babies to be bow-legged at one point in time! my daughter was walking at 9 months and one of her legs bowed out but as her legs got stronger it straightened! im not saying some babies dont have problems because of it, im just saying its common when they learn to stand and walk:)
lovecanbemagic 2 years ago 3
@jstalilred

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Thats very bad form, at such a young age they are not meant to hold their weight.
TowardsThePantheon 2 years ago
Incorrect.
Google "baby standing at 4 months" and read what pediatricians have to say.

@xmar24 whether the couch is helping him or not, thats still pretty damn impressive... if my baby is able to do that at 4 months, i'll shit myself...
BaileyFlys 1 year ago
You shouldnt let babies try to stand too early, their bones are very strong, and can cause bowing of the leg bones. I know cause it happened to me. But cute baby :)
lrn2email 3 years ago
I meant arent very strong lol
lrn2email 3 years ago
thats actually just an old wives tale. babies know when they're ready to do something ;)
