Islamic countries have actually done quite a bit of good. A lot of the lost libraries of ancient were maintained and preserved while europe was engulfed in the "dark ages". And a lot of our math and astronomy comes from their continued work. And actually the US is tanking so is Europe while the middle east flourishes due to large scale oil production. Though my fear stems from once that oil is gone, what will happen in that region. Then yes, they might be back in the 7th cen.
