  • Plants only require three minerals to grow. Nitrogen, Potassium and phosphate. However for human nutrition we need a much bigger range of minerals because us humans require it for all sorts biological functions. So the soil must contain a wide variety of nutrients, so when we eat them they provide us with what we need. The soil gains nutrients in various ways. Human waste and industrial may also contain these minerals... May I say though... Simple solutions do not solve complex eco problems.
