I must say, I love this audio footage. I'm a Bruins fan & revere Fred Cusick w/my youth & love for the B's. What a blessing Pettit was/is for you Hawks fans. I love the classic NHL & their announcers...What professionals & impact on the game we all know & love.
53 yrs old in bed listening with a small transister radio with an ear plug pretending sleeping ooohhhh memories and stanley garage co. lead off man for cubs remember that chicago fans
Grew up in Chicago during the 60's listening to the Hawks on an AM radio. Didn't get to the stadium until the teenage years. Lloyd Pettit made the Hawks something more than just hockey. Thanks for the post, any more would be greatly appreciated. My old cassettes of the games wore out way before recordable CD's. Still have 80's games on VHS! Pat Foley may not be Lloyd but he's pretty close.
I still can't believe the Hawks lost to Montreal in 1971.
The Hawks were up 2-0 in the finals and up 2-0 against the Habs in game number three and let Montreal win that game and the next to even the series.
Up 3-2 in the finals and tied 3-3 in game number six, the Habs scored a shorthanded goal to tie the series and set up a game seven.
In game seven, the Hawks were up 2-0 and then Esposito let in Lemaire's 70ft.shot to give the Habs life.
The 1st home team to lose the Finals in game 7.
