I watched the helicopter land on this baby back around 1986. I stopped dead center of the curve around the point, not a soul to be seen. I wondered if Billy Joel owned it back then though he lived out on Shelter Island. Does anyone know who owns this? I know that a very prominent newscaster lives nearby as well.
My whole family rented Aurora in 2005. for a month. It was such an awesome experience. Never managed to ride the helicopter. Hope to do it again someday later in the future.
to the person who commented recently about taxing the rich....I AGREE and I apologize because I accidentally clicked on REMOVE instead of REPLY for your comment!!!
OMG! It has a helicopter on board.....you think they need a Med Flight RN, that is what I do for a living and I would love to land a "posh" job like this one!! I could fly out to the crew who are off on the dingy fishing, swimming, skiing and wake boarding if the stubbed their toe and needed a band aid! Man,, what a dream yacht! It sure beats the hell out of my 24 foot Chris Craft! Hell, I'd even cook their dinner every night and clean the entire yacht daily including making the Captain's bed!!
HAHAHA! YOU ARE FUNNY! That boat is rented out during the year. I don't know how often. It comes as it is. Actually, we noticed later that the hilicopter was GONE but had not seen it take off. By the time we were coming back into the harbor, it had returned. Guess they had to go grocery shopping.....? LOL Yep - guess that would be a great job!!
Yeah, I was on the heli-deck mold crew, foam core & faring crew, and then worked in the electrical department. Admiral Marine Works, Port Townsend, WA 1991-1992.
Well that's really neat! I would love a "tour" all over that boat inside and out to check it out! LOL Cool that you got to work on it. Very interesting and thanks for letting me know!
Apparently. At least, that's the impression you get from the only information online I was able to find about this huge ship. Interesting, huh? Be a yacht captain and then get rich starting your own yacht company! The American Dream :)

Well, i have no plans to ever go to Europe, so I will take your word for it. :) I have seen pics, so I know there are larger vessles. However, to see one in my hometown harbor of Northport Long Island (NY) was quite a big surprise for most of us! It was amazing to see.
Chardy 17,
I was on Aurora in 2005. Did we meet. I don't remember renting it out.

I have no idea what it's home port is. You might try googling it and see what you come up with. Try Aurora+yacht (no spaces).
