  • RIP George Burns

  • Augh! I hate Fleet!

  • @MollyKoenigStarGleek spoofing the notorious London news journalists no doubt. Worse than the Inquirer

  • South of the boarder? Kermit, this was filmed in Europe. How the heck did you get to Mexico?

  • Gracie Allen came originally from San Francisco.

  • I think George Burns was asking what the hell Gonzo is. In Muppets From Space, it's finally revealed that Gonzo is an alien from another planet.

  • @AntiVenom36 Muppets in space is considered non-canon actually.. Gonzo has returned to being a "whatever"

  • @eternal0star OK! My dad did said that Gonzo resembles of a kiwi bird. Gonzo's probably not a bird, but I wouldn't be surprised that he comes from an egg. He did said on this episode to George Burns that his mom died 2 years before he was born. Possible that his mom after laying his egg and Gonzo remains unhatched for 2 years and his dad gives the name, Gonzo what his mom wants to give him before she died.

  • George Burns made the record of being the oldest guest of The Muppet Show. He lived for a long time. He even made it to 100 before he died.

  • George Burns... one of the greatest men who ever lived! RIP, both you and Gracie. :')

  • The song 'Train Back Home' - is that a song George wrote himself, or was it by someone else originally? Because I'd love to learn it, though with his voice, it can be a little difficult discerning the melody.

  • What could be better than the Muppets and the BEST comedian ever!? LOVE George Burns!

  • that's just it, Ralf ISN'T getting paid!!!!!

  • I loved this show unforgetable

  • HOLD IT RALF YOUR LIABLE TO HURT YOURSELF PLAY LIKE YOUR NOT GETTING PAID

  • The press is often depressing nowadays, isn't it?

  • Gotta love George Burns. Who else could smoke a cigar on a kid's show.

  • @CarGuyZM10 Actually This show was on Primetime at night it was a show for Adults but it appealed to kids as well.

  • RIP George Burns 1896-1996 One of my favorite actors I loved him in Oh God and the Sunshine Boys.

  • 100 years old... can you believe it? He'd actually be 115 this year.

  • "cuanto le gusta, le gusta, le gusta, le gusta, le gusta..."

  • I think that opening remark from burns was improvised. You can hear some laughter there that doesnt sound canned

  • what is the episode that marks gonzo's transition to his normal body shape and sound???

  • That was a two-bit nag, also known as the quarter horse (ta-Dah!) very common here in the West.

  • George Burns and Jack Benny were good friends. Could Gonzo's bad violin playing have possibly been a nod to George's friend Jack?

  • @dharmaseed

It was - also Gonzo was playing love in bloom which was Jack's theme

  • @dmat33 Isnt "in bloom" by nirvana?

  • @dmat33 oh wait love in bloom i didnt read it all

  • Love that man, George is the best!!!!!!

  • when will you see a cigar on a kids show now.

  • Wspomnień czar...Łza się w oku kręci!!!

  • Where are entertainers like this these days? So many of the actors, comedians, etc. could learn a thing or two from George Burns, may her rest in peace.

It's funny; every time you saw George he was smoking a cigar. He probably smoked a few a day. Smoking's bad for you, but look at him. He lived to be 100!

  • @SunnasChariot Believe it or not, George didn't really smoke except on stage. He used the cigar as a timing device or a prop for when a laugh didn't come like he expected. Read "The Hundred Year Dash" his biography, it has a lot of interesting information about his life and his work.

  • @mosh2mozart Really?! Wow, that's a shocker. I'll have to look that up.

  • poor george burns they dont tell those kind of clean jokes any more. man oh man what happend to clean entertainment.

  • Not enough training in entertainment. Burns got his start in vaudeville which was strictly G-rated...except for ethnic humour, which was wildly popular at the time and considered both de rigueur and fairly harmless.

  • It got trade in for shock value.

  • George Burns = the greatest

  • Gonzo fiddles while George Burns is a take from Nero fiddled while Rome burned.

  • Hey wait scribbler those are all lies!!!

  • This is one of my favorite episodes! Thanks for posting this video!

  • Wow, this is great. Thanks for adding this.

And George Burns is great. But they wouldn't never allow him on TV with his cigar nowadays, what a shame!

  • George Burns deid years ago.

  • Well that and he's dead.

  • Yes, I'm well aware of the fact that's he's dead!

  • at 8 42 thats in young frakenstein! :D

  • The ??? fiddles whilst george burns line goes back to when george was guest star on jack benny radio show back in the 30's and 40's - also gonzo is playing jack benny's theme - love in bloom

  • Not sure I got the "(insert name) while George burns" joke. That was the first time I ever heard it when I was a kid.

  • I KNEW George Burns was on The Muppet Show... and Dom Deliuse too??? Man... gotta check that one out next. Gonna get lost on this channel.

  • i looked this up that reporter Muppet was the first Muppet made that Jim Henson hated could not stand him actually

  • ^ Not particularly fond of that Muppet, myself.

  • Gonzo fiddles while George burns :D

  • "I like that joke. It's a pleasure to hear something that's older than I am."

  • @jasobres i don't get it

  • @jasobres I love George Burns!! One of the best comedians of the 20th Century!!!

  • Ya know, i hope George does burn..... George W. Bush that is!!!

  • @stefenismyname yeah that Bush, the bad one, not the good one

  • @stefenismyname The worst US President the country ever had. I'm glad that he's no longer president because I hate him.

  • How appropriate; the Muppet Show was a tribute to vaudeville, and George Burns was an old vaudevillian.

  • "I just missed the train back home" hilarious!!! X-D

  • I love how everyone who was anyone appeared on the Muppet Show

  • Classic sketch between Burns and Rolph...they don't make them like that anymore...

  • loved george burns

  • S; well there's your basic Latin number

W: I think you mean your basic Piglatin number

    Both: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • is it me or when george is talking to rolph or however you spell it, does it sound like he's calling him "ralph?"

  • Is that " while George burns" joke an old one or originate on this show?

  • It was made for the show. Just about all the joke was.

  • actually i thnk it's from the infamous "Nero fiddling while Rome burns."

  • Yeah, but the set up is classic.

  • hmmm gonzo fiddles while george burns that jokes coming back

  • George Burns was on the Muppet Show and they

recorded on videotape on BBC1 in 1986.

  • Oh, this orginially aired/recorded in 1977 in USA

  • As much as he looked forward to reaching age 100, Burns also stated that he looked forward to death, saying that the day he died he would be with Gracie again in heaven

  • G Burn was a great actor, sadly he die a long time ago but he was very great actor who was funny.

  • LOL "gonzo fiddles while george burns"!!!!

  • Yeah, great one in my book!

  • Gonzo fiddles while George burns... how old IS that?

  • its still great

  • At least as old as George Burns.

  • LOL!!! True dat!!

  • According to Muppet Wiki, Fleet Scribbler wasn't used very much because they thought he was a very abrasive, irritating character. I dunno, it would've been more interesting to see more of him.

  • Well, how would Fleet Scribbler fit in with the Muppets? There's not much use for a reporter on a varity show

  • thanks dr strangepork! :D
