  • what does そうだ and "koi" or whatever Ocelot says mean in 1:38?

  • @DarkWhite1000 it means "draw"

  • @redagent21 No it doesn't. It means "Come". The Japanese doesn't really have a word for "draw".

Just because he says "Draw" in the English version, doesn't mean he does the same in every other language as well.

  • @Omegatron666 ohhhh, thanks for clearing that up

  • lol it says ocerot, so in that case, shouldnt it say Rife also??

  • @jonathano1989 Life is already an established english word. Back in the day, MGS was supposed to be a Japan-only game and therefore they did not pay specific attention to their direct english translation. So it's actually OceRot but if they kept the name that way, the players would have blamed it on poor translations. You'll also notice in the japanese version that when you're seen, the game doesn't go in "Alert" mode but in "Danger" mode. Most of the english in the original is a raw translation

  • @lepolohuevo well maybe but i think it should have been spelled oserotto to be consistent with the way his name was spelled when he was introduced

  • @jonathano1989 Nah, that would have pushed it too far... or else Liquid Snake would be Rikido Suneeku

  • OMG,i can't stop laughing " livolver oceloto" "solido snakeuuuuu"

  • Metal Gear Solid should always be played in Original Japanese!

    Thanks HannesHansen!

  • Ocelot: "Coy! (Japanese for 'Draw!')" That just sounded funny how he said it hahaha XD

  • Ocerot! XD

  • I think it's safe to mention that Ocelot's japanese voice actor died. That's why when Liquid "takes over" Ocelot's body, you hear Liquid's voice instead of Ocelot which would've made sense.

  • @CanderousXOrdo They should have done it that way in the English version. It's very hard to beleive that he's 'Liquid' when Ocelot looks and sounds exactly like himself.

  • notice how ocelots hand fell off more plane then the US version...im guessing its do to JP being a liitle more on the censored side.

  • @fordmike You mean a little less.

It's the same censorship that took out Meryl's hard nipples in the bathroom scene.

  • I to reload in a battle.

  • 戦闘中のセリフが印象的。コルダイトの匂いを嗅ぐと興奮する・・とかあったような気がする。

  • How is it possible to have the suppressor Here? in the Spanish version given later, do you know if varies from one version to another? If not where you get it? please i´m spanish sorry for my inglish

  • 糞が。

  • this is one example of american voiceovers beating the shit out of japanese

  • That's your opinion.

  • snake meets OCEROT? thats what his life gauge says :D good thing its not oceRAT lol :D

  • I actually like the ninja's voice in Japanese. Very robotic.

  • hey i want to get the japanese verison off ebay one day it will be awesome, u did a good job with msg 1 i'm impressed to the maz ^^

  • Grey Fox sounds awesome saying 'I'm like you I have no name' In japanese .

  • Does he actually say the there's nothing like the feeling of putting a long silver bullet into a well greased chamber part? This perv. XD

  • Riroruvah Oceroto!

  • Riboruba- Oserotto! :D

    Gotta love Japanese transcriptions.

  • ''Rivolvaar Ocelot'' that made me laugh abit I find it a bit amusing how they spell the enligh ones in their dub. I like this japanese version too. (Even though the enligh is still better. No one beats David H. as a Snake damn it!)

  • Okay, to be fair, he was pretty good in MGS4 again.

  • @HannesHansen MGS3 has got to be the best acting I've ever seen him do. The PSP games were/are pretty bad though

  • His best will always be MGS1 by far...

  • @HannesHansen i dont think he can top the 1st game...its by far the best voice action...japanese and american!!!

  • @HannesHansen yeah, i think his voice in psp mgs games were pretty bad. Too much monotone, not much emotions

  • Watching it in japanese made me realise how good english dubing was in that game.

Usually dubbed games are not a real pleasure to listen.

In case of MGS english dubbing its no worse than japanese original and maybe even better which is really a rare thing.

MGS is really an epic game.

  • Saa ikuzo!

Ocelot sounds really evil on 2:04 when reloading

    "Sentouchuu no RIROODO ga tamaranai"

  • Mm. Yeah, gonna have to go with English Ocelot on this one.

  • what is the precise name of this version of metal gear (with japanese voice) , i have one japanese version, but with english voice and japanese subtitle, I do not succeed to find japanese version with japanese voice + japanese subcode

  • Metal Gear Solid

The one with english voices is Metal Gear Solid: Integral.

  • cyborg ninja.. thats pretty anime-ish to me... why are we calling it anime anyways lol

  • Kojima actually said in an interview several characters, Gray Fox especially, were based off of American comic books. He's got a lot of influence from the west.

  • aww, too bad the audio is unsynced.

  • Blame the video upload.

  • at 3:04 you can hear ocelot say youre pretty good.

ii sense da=good sense you got there.

  • It's actually "ii sensu da". Japanese can't hear the last letter 'e', therefore they replace it with the letter 'u' which we westerns can't hear. It's all about language and pronounciation.

And yes, I know. That was very nitpicky.

  • hey is that how they say his name in japanese. su nee ku?

  • I'm not sure I like Snake's transliterated Japanese name スネーク; for some reason I think スネイキ sounds better.

  • KOI! KAKURATEMO MUDA DA!

  • Despite the different voices, the Japanese version feels exactly like the American version we're used to.

They both seem to have the same atmosphere.

  • is liquid ocelot and revolver ocelot different? i think they are

  • Liquid Snake and Revolver Ocelot are two different characters. Revolver Ocelot lost his right arm, as you can see in this vid, so after Liquid's death at the end of MGS1 he had Liquids arm transplanted to his body. Liquids spirit took over Ocelots body during MGS2, so he had Liquids arm removed again and replaced it with a mechanical arm.

  • However, he (Revolver Ocelot.) used nanomachines and psychotherapy on himself, so that he himself would think that he was still posessed by Liquid Snake and thus, becoming Liquid Ocelot. He did this in ordner to fool the Patriot AI.

And no, I didn't make this up.

  • Quite obscene eh? lol

  • I usually like Japanese voice acting over English but in this case it just doesn't seem right without David Hayter doing the voice of Snake.

  • Wow, never heard Ocelot's voice in Japanese before. I like it! He still sounds like a cocky bastard. XD In a good way.

  • too bad he passed away before he could voice him for a final time in MGS4. Because of that, they used Liquid's voice to replace him,but as a homage,Ocelot's final words in MGS4("you're pretty good")were spoken by his original late voice-actor using a re-used sample line he spoke in MGS1

  • Aww, that's sad. But it's cool that they at least got him to say 'You're pretty good'! I didn't know that!

  • What does "Ocerot" say at 1:44? ^^

  • Do you mean ''Koi'' or the other thing?

Koi means draw or go, like let's go.

What the other thing means, i have no idea.

  • In that situation it means come.

  • "Koi" means "Come!"

After saying "Koi!", Ocelot says "Kakuretemo muda da!", which means "There's no use in hiding!".

  • its futile to hide

  • Hey, look at Ocelot's life bar, it says "Ocerot" XD lmao

  • The japanese choice for Grey Fox's voice kinda sucks though.

  • The japanese voice acting is waaaay better than the english version. Whether it sounds cheesy or not.

This is only my opinion and I don't care to argue if someone disagrees with me.

  • Well in my opinion the english version makes more sense as the character are ment to be westerners.

  • I partly agree, but since the dialogue and the characters are kind of anime-ish, it somewhat feels more cozy in japanese. If you've ever seen anime with original japanese voice actors, I think you'd probably get my point.

  • juustohoyla, who told you that the characters are kind of "Anime-ish"? I mean, don't you think you have a very stereo-typical concept about the Japanese way?

  • Yes actually, I do. Don't get me wrong, I was a real anime freak back in the day. But there are certain character types which are very common in most animes.

  • Ocelot's voice actor sounds like just Dio Brando's voice actor.

  • it sounds like he says ''Tennis'' Baker at 0:22

  • "Revurva Ocerotto" Yeah now we're talking! Thats cool!

  • ocelot voice died before mgs4, he was replaced by liquid snake

  • LOL that guy souns like hes puking or something. The japanese version sounds just as good.

  • I like how it says "OCEROT" in the top-left corner.

  • I don't think the Japanese version is any better or worse than the English one. It just has a different feel to it is all. I'm totally going to use these clips for Japanese practice.

  • You and I share this same thought.

  • You're just saying that, because you don't understand Japanese.

  • No, I'm saying that because it sounds incredibly cheesey. I remember you, you reply to every comment on every MGS video on youtube. That comment was AGES ago and knowing you, you've probably already replied to it. Get a life kid.

  • OKay then.

  • oh...my....god i havnt seen this in years T____T THANK YOU <3

  • Hmmm.... I don't hate these voices, but they sound so... cliche. It's not so hard to see why Kojima himself prefers the English dub over Japanese. Still, it's interesting listening to it...

  • Stop inventing reasonings that never came out of the creator's mouth. Hideo still doesn't despise the original Japanese voice acting, despite the existence of the English one.

  • Wow, buddy. Did I ever say that he despised it? I said he prefers it. Geez, wanna not stretch things outta proportion? Just cause he prefers it doesn't mean he hates it. Don't be such an extremist about a video game.

  • Okay, sorry to the creator for the double post, but you have noticed that Substance in Japan was English voices + Japanese subtitles? It's not really supporting that Kojima in particular prefers it, but really, if I could find the damn place where I read that he liked it, I'd cite it.

  • I DON'T doubt that Hideo likes the English voice acting. In fact, Hideo Kojima decided to include the original English voice acting in 'Metal Gear Solid Integral'...but he also added the Japanese subtitles.

  • Right. So Japanese people who didn't speak English wouldn't be confused.

  • Gray Fox cut off Ocelot's hand!

  • foxhoundu butai

  • Quite interesting to hear the Japanese voices. I have to admit that the Japanese voice of Grey Fox sounds good.

  • Ocelot is the son of the Boss, who trained Big Boss who Solid Snake is a clone of, it is a small world.

  • they game was made by Japanese people , but its about Americans

its just that simple...how many times HERE, do we see this done the other way around

  • Rarely...I think.

  • well, actually, thank god for that, right? ;)

  • where can you guys buy the japanese version of this game?I always love the japanese dubbing =D

  • snaaaaaaakuu!!!

  • why is everything written in english?

  • This is not written in english.

  • The names of the guys are written in english.

  • Only the GamePLay names, not the "credits". But most of the modern Japanese merchandise has english text on it.

  • why are they english though?

  • Ask the Japanese people or search it on an encyclopedia. I don't have the answer to that.

  • Dayum, don't be all mean. I was just wondering....

  • SHINGURU AKUSHION AAMI

    Also, XD @ "OCEROT"

  • They call it Engrish for a reason. :O

  • singur acsiona armeena...omg

  • lol Omg, it DOES sat 'Ocerot' on the health bar.

XD Ah. They should make a Metal Gear anime.

  • I don't think that's such a good idea.

  • you comment on every metal gear video ever don't you?

  • Most of them...yes.

  • Hehe =) Ocelot as old

  • OH MY GOD and it even says "OCEROT" on his health bar !!! ITS OCELOT GOD DAMMIT!

  • koji totani was better than patrick zimmermann

  • does anybody know that Ocelot is the son of the boss

  • and the sorrow

  • thats a big twist

  • yeah and the sorrow are his dad

  • yeah

  • Revorva ocerotto...soriddo sonake...kennest bakatara...lmao

  • Yeah the american one sounds like total crap on a stick compare to the japanese one

  • i've always wondered how The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly would sound like Japanese dubbed.

what does Ocelot say literally in japanese instead of his reload innuendo?

  • I enjoy both versions. Japanese. English. Both sides of the voice acting in this game are phenomenal.

  • Patrick Laine is much too much better

  • There is no Patrick Laine. His real name is Patrick Zimmerman. I know he's a bit better, but some of the voices are great in Japanese too.

  • Japanese is not bad but Ocelot sounds mad in Japanese. Snake sounds as cool as David Hayter.

  • "Revoruva Ocerotto", huh? Sounds catchy XD

  • ocerot?

  • Koji Totani, may you rest in peace. May you rest in peace too, Kaneto Shiozawa.

  • Psycho Mantis Japanese VA also died last year

  • MGS sounds cooler in english!

  • mutch cooler

  • Very well. You could make it with music, but it is very good.
