It will always read "60hz". That info displays what is being fed by the source, like the blu-ray player. Most everything in existence is @ 60hz.

The tv displays 120hz. The reason its says 60hz is because the device your feeding the tv is 60hz but the tv always upconverts it to 120hz.

The device like a ps3 or xbox inputs 1920x1080 at 60 hertz. Then the tv upscales it to 120 hertz!

the tv changes the refresh rate from 60 to 120
that's because you have to set the auto motion plus in the picture options menu. Read the Manual!
