So I don't think anyone has pointed it out yet so I'm going to say it. What really astounds me about this is the fact that he is singing without any music what-so-ever. I know, I know, that might not seem like much but take a moment to think it out. It's easier to sing when you have music in the background hinting to you when works are supposed to be spoken and the sound of each not but there is nothing but him here. He really is an amazingly talented man. ((AND GOD IS HE SEXY!!))

Yes, and I always loved this song exactly for the reasons he gives.

Slight lyrics glitches and then there was the melody of the second line... "Can possess, conquer my country's heart; they rise to fail.." which he sang to the same melody as in the second couplet.

But never mind; lovely, and such raw emotion in his singing voice.

I wish I'd seen (and heard) him playing The American in Chess.
