Oh happy child hood memories... Sunday car rides with the family. This song would be on the radio. It would make me feel so happy.......still does.. I love it. Thank you Oliver : )
I remember this song vividly from early June of 1969, it happened to be the first week that I ever worked partime. Summer was a couple weeks away and I just turned 16. Where on earth did the past 43 years go to?
I pretty much hate my job. Today on the way to work, some divine guidance told me to play this. I had a great day and my mood has improved greatly! I've been listening on & off all day. I find it's impossible to have a bad day with this positive energy resonating! Maybe the "song, song, song, si-ing, sing, sing, sing-----sooooong is my new OM! Hope it's good for you, too!
I give you 5 stars out of 5 for a terrific and colorful video. It is visually a work of art, and the shot of the pretty female eye is simply outstanding and I just wanted to thank you personally my friend..I hope to see more of your work.
beautiful music, with wonderful words and melody. This is the music of a fantastic generation which I am proud of being a part of it, wish the would make more of these beautiful plenty of meaning music...
I remember singing this song as a kid and swinging on the swing on the side of our house. I loved this song and still do! I'd play it in the morning when I woke up my kids to get ready for preschool and then regular school. I'd sing along with it, with a smile on my face as I said good morning, starshine! to each child in the morning. What beautiful memories this song brings back. :)
Only true genuine inspiration can produce melodies that seem devine, that seem they pre-existed, and have reached us somehow. These will always cause very special emotions...their note patterns and harmonic changes blend in perfectly with trillions of sensory cells in our brains. That´s why today´s music is garbage. It is not art.....for art only comes from genuiness.
@mauriciobeltre ...YES...Music like this IS pre-destined to emerge, engage and interact with those who have hearts to feel and ears to hear. LOVE your comment!
This was one of 5 songs that made it to the charts in 1969 from the Broadway musical "Hair." The others were Aquarius/Let the Sunshine in(actually two songs in one) Hair, and Easy to be hard. Good times. Top 40 was the greatest from the mid sixties to the early seventies. I think us "Old Heads" would agree right?
I came home from school one day and turned the TV on to channel 13. Lo and behold, this guy was singing this song with the muppets. It blew my little school boy mind. I've never been the same since.
Ah the summer of 1969, the summer of love (or was that 1968?)--ugh I was born 20 years too late. I wonder what it would be like living in the hippie age. My parents were 10. lol. Why can't music be like this anymore?
Brings back good memories of being in elementary school and playing in the yard outside. They used this in a school play, played it in the auditorium. You knew even then you were hearing history.
My husband sang this song to my pregnant belly every morning. And moments after my daughters birth, we both began to sing it to her ... And she listened!
this song is about waking up & knowing your in love with life..it avoids the war & all negative things...wish we could all feel like this song....tommy
Look at it this way all America friends if it was not for us you guys would be carring draft cards and being TOLD what to do. Taken out of college, A gun in your hands and TOLD to go fight at the age of 18 years old. Horses being run off cliffs by the BLM . Woman with hardly any rights. We had to change things and this song helped us :) just gave us a happy feeling. Hugs :)
I remember hearing this song on the radio as a small boy. The Older Generation used to think the hippies rubbed them up the wrong way a bit. I hope there is another spiritual age like that one day. All people seem to winge and wine about these days is their mortgages and rents! Great song.
@rextrek I hear ya. The summer of 1969 is when I remember so many great songs that almost disappeared. I'm 53 now and recall this stuff well. I can hear music by the beach boys is another. I can go on.
First 45 RPM single I ever bought---July, 1969 Cottonwood Mall, Salt Lake City 99 cents. I was so happy when my mother gave me the money to buy this song. 42 years later it still one of my favorites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One summer in Riverton, Wyoming, I had to take over my older brother's paper route while he recuperated from a knee injury. My mom drove me around in the morning and every day we would deliver a paper to the theater, that also had a donut shop. She would give me a dollar and I would get two donuts, one for her and one for me. As soon as we drove up to the theater, this song came on because it was the intro to the morning deejays at the local radio station. Memories.
I first heard this song when I was just a tiny thing in elementary school during morning sing along/read along. I never forgot it. This is the first time I'm hearing it in full again. My mom didn't believe me that there was really a song that when "sabba sibby sabba...". Brings back that light, airy feeling of being a kid again, being in that eternal state ofinner blissful innocence!
I was only 5 when this song came out, but I heard part of it in one of the Brady Bunch movies would you believe..lol. So I decided to check out the full song and I love it! Music from the 70s can't be beat.
They don't write lyrics like that anymore LOL. I figure it's an early morning singin' song & you haven't had your coffee yet so you don't make as much sense. Great song, though. Happy hippies!
@priapus56 lol that was my thought to. A person can enjoy the song, sure, but don't pretend the lyrics are amazing lol. lalal low low song sing song, singing a song, flippy flappy, singing a song, da da da sing, sing sing sing a song, sing sing sing song song song, sing , songsingsing... sing siiiing a siiiing And so on etc lol
It was the summer of '69. Camping up in Wawa, On, Huntsville, Bracebridge, and up around Sault St. Marie. Great memories of that July. Man landed on the moon, and Neil Diamond also had a smash hit for the ages...Sweet Caroline!!What a summer!!!
One of the songs from the summer of 1969 my favorite summer close second to the summer of 1967. The music of 69 was so diverse and just great to remember going to the lake while the radio is on and these great songs as the backdrop of our lives. Great memories, that was a great summer.
I'm OBSESSED with the 1960s and 70s. AND the 50s. I buy/make the fashions, listen to the music, do the hair. I love it. I love the innocence of it. Not just that, but the positivity. Music now makes me get suicidal, but music like this makes my mind content.
Wish I could say something really witty to get people to recognize just how brilliant this song is, but true beauty would only blush at such exaggerations.
the main difference between the songs of that age and today is we voted by buying the records that made it to top.Now we are by ways of manipulation [ads etc ] more or less told what is going to be a hit.individualality has gone and in my opinion has gone forever.Look at your comedians all the same . How many of the songs over the last 20 years will people be whisling in the future ?
Here's some other songs that may appeal to some of you out there: San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers In Your Hair) Aquarius / Let the Sunshine In, Gentle On My Mind, Spirit in the Sky, Up - Up and Away, The Air That I Breathe, Crystal Blue Persuasion, Eight Miles High, Ferry Cross the Mersey, I'm a Believer, Time of the Season, The Mighty Quinn ...to name just a few happy songs from this general era.
LOL this takes me back to the 90's when the people of Springfield formed a circle and sang in celebration because the alien was only Mr. Burns.
